Teeth Coming in in Wrong Order?

My 11-mth old baby got her two middle bottom teeth in about 4 months ago, and now she is having one come in on the top, but it is not the middle teeth, it is one of the teeth beside the middle teeth. I suppose there is no 'set' order for teeth to appear, but has anyone else had this happen? I'm not worried about it, I had just assumed that she would probably get her top front teeth first.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the quick responses everyone. I guess this is a little more common than I thought. My baby has her 12mth checkup in about a month, so I will be sure to have our pediatrician check her out if she still hasn't gotten her top middle teeth by then to see if we need to take her to a dentist for further examination.

I think that it will be fine. As long as you don't notice any problems with them. If you need to ask a doctor you should do that as well. But as long as they all come in with no problem and it doesn't effect the childs speech or anything it will be fine.

At 3 months to the day my son had his bottom two middle teeth broke through and showing,a week later just like your baby the top NOT middle but to the right broke through, another week another tooth this time the left of where his middle teeth should come in! It took a couple weeks for his top middle teeth to come in and now his bottom side teeth are comming in. At 7 months he has 7 teeth and I havent checked today so there could be more! I was a little freaked out at first too...my girls teeth came in around 11 months and in the "right"order but he's fine and I think its more common than I relized. Just makes for a even funnier grin!!

My daughter got those top side teeth first, then the bottom side teeth after that. Now she is almost 8 and has no problems other than crowding and she lost her baby teeth in the correct order. I don't think it matters what order they come in.

Don't worry about it. My little girls came in two at a time, And she got the ones they call the k9's. She looked like a baby vampire for the longest time. It was so cute. She's three now and there were no lasting effects.

We had this happen with our daughter (and not our son so we were shocked as well). Her "eye teeth" came in first so we thought she had a HUGE gap in between her 2 front teeth because thats what it looked like (even her pediatrician thought so) but then her 2 front teeth came in later and we were 100% RELIEVED!!! She hasnt had any problems and he said sometimes certain teeth are more ready than others.. But it was WEIRD :)

My son's teeth came in just as you described--he looked like he had fangs! A couple of my other friends said this happened to their children, as well. Apparently, teeth are like the other facets of growth...each has its own unique timing and order! (I think God made our bodies pretty amazing!) Anyway, my son is now three and has a mouthful of healthy teeth!

I have 5 kids of which 4 got their teeth in the the "right order" and 1 that had both of the same teeth on either side of the 2 middle teeth come in before the 2 middle ones.....he looked just like Goofy....lol anyway, the 2 middle teeth came in just fine and in perfect alignment and when it was time to loose them, the 2 middle teeth came out first. I think everything will be fine for your little one...

I was just talking this morning about how weird it is. I have a 10 1/2 month old boy that's having the same issue. His tooth just broke the skin like 2 days. He did have a fever for 2 days. It just makes me wonder in what order is the rest of his teeth going to come in. Anyway, I hope that she's not in too much pain.

My best friend has a son 2 months younger then mine and for the longest time all he had was 2 bottoms and fangs on top. His two middle top just started coming through a few weeks ago. :P

My daughter got her 2 bottom middle teeth first, then sloooowly got the 2 top middle ones, but one of her top first molars broke through before her 2nd top middle tooth! Then the top first molar on the other side came. That's all she has for now! haha

My daughters teeth did the same thing. She cut two bottom teeth then she cut the two up top not the front teeth but the two on each side then she got two more on the bottom and i just kept thinking oh my my child is going to get her front two teeth very last and then loose them first and no one will ever know she had any front teeth haha. but they did come in. Now she is cutting a tooth in the very back. So i guess they just come in however I dont think there is any kind of order.
