Has anyone had any experience with swollen Lymph Glands? After some internet research we let it ride for almost two weeks, but they are still inflated, so we went to Kaiser yesterday and they drew some blood. He has also been complaining of headaches during these weeks.
Does anyone have any experience, recommendations??? This is either viral or bacterial that much I know.
Thank you ahead for your support.

Hi T.,
When I was in the 2nd grade I ended up with a bacterial infection of the lymph glands, my condition was so acute that I actually spent 2 weeks in the hospital, but that was a very long time ago. But since then I get swollen glands off and on when ever I am fighting anything else. I have had them in my armpit, neck and groin area.
They can be very painful. I usually begin cleansing herbs and liver support remedies--Lecithin, milk thistle, wheatgrass--and lots and lots of water. Usually they will go away within a day or two. If I am fighting the flu they tend to be harder to eliminate. The lymph system is activated by your calf muscles so walking like a duck (I know it sounds funny) or simply going up on tip toes off and on can also begin to move the lymph more.
There is also a form of massage called Lymphatic that worked extremely well when the lymph glands in my neck were swollen (its a double help because the swollen glands can actually put your neck out!)The massage is simple and could easily be done on a child, there is no harsh moves at all.
I hope this helps!
S.

The lymph nodes get swollen when the body is fighting something it doesn't want in it. If you have a cold or a sore throat the lymph nodes under the jaw swell and get lumpy. Once the infection or whatever is over the lymph nodes start to go down. Some times it can be a low level ear infection that is causing it or an allergy.

What might help is when he is in the shower stand behind him and very gently put your put your fingers at his jaw line and draw them down over the glands as if you are raking them (like raking the dirt in the garden.) You can start as high as behind the ears and follow the jaw down to the front of the throat and down to the collar bone. For more info you could google lymphatic drainage, this is also a bodywork technique. Accupuncutre/pressure really helps to because sometimes the gland get blocked and can't drain after they have worked hard. The headache could be dur to this blockage.
All the best. You are a great mom.

I would suggest trying a Lymphatic Massage if you want to try something alternative. The lymphatic system works to remove toxins in our body. When toxins build up, we may get swollen lymph nodes. There are drainage points in various spots in the body. It might be beneficial to have someone "drain" some of the toxins out. You might also want to try acupuncture for this.

Have you tried mega doses of Vitamin C? Ascorbic Acid.
I use that for my entire family including babies. I put a little in some apple juice for the kids.

T.,

My daughter has the same thing right now. The swollen lymph glands I was told by the doctor today can be either 2 things.
1. Cold- they will cough and have nasal congestion.
advise: treat with lots of fluids, rest, and "feel better" medicines that reduce pain and/or fever, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol, Tempra, Liquiprin, etc.) or ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc.).

2. Strept Throast- Parents should be concerned about a sore throat that does not improve after a sip of water after arising from sleep, or one that is accompanied by a headache, high fever, stomach ache, vomiting, or severe tiredness. The presence of a red, somewhat rough-to-the-touch rash is also a concern, as strep infection along with a rash is known as scarlet fever advise:Antibiotics commonly used to treat strep throat infections include, among others, Penicillins [amoxicillin, (Amoxil, Dispermox, Trimox) , Macrolides, such as erythromycins (E-Mycin, Eryc, Ery-Tab, PCE, Pediazole, Ilosone)], azithromycin (Zithromax), and clarithromycin (Biaxin), and Cephalosporins [cephalexin (Keflex, Keftabs, Biocef )].

I hope this helps you. You can find this info by googling "Strept Throat"

Dear T.,
Have you taken him to a doctor? Maybe he has mumps. Kids with mumps have very swollen necks and lower cheeks, tend to be lethargic and might have fever. Good luck!

T.,

I have no experience with this issue you are having but wanted to just reach out and tell you to hang in there. I am so sorry for your loss 7 months ago. While I did not have the same circumstances I am 45 and considering a 2nd child (my daughter is 3 yesterday). We had a miscarriage 5 months before getting pregnant with her. Glad to hear you are going the way of homeopathy. I have my own business and work mostly from home as well. Good luck!

I am with you on going the homeopathic route. I have a 3 year old who hasn't had the vaccinations either and she is rarely sick with anything. If she does get sick we rarely have to use medicines. One of the things we do as a family is see a chiropractor regularly. When your spine is free of subluxations (being out of allignment) it helps your immune system flow better thoughout the body. Think of a garden hose with the water tuned on. If you kink the hose the water doesn't flow as well. Anyway chiropractic can help with more than just back pain... it can help asthma, bedwetting, sleep, fatigue, headaches, ear infections and so much more. I have found that even I recover from colds/flus within a few days. My daughter has been seeing a chiropractor since she was an infant. She has had a few minor ear infections to where the doctor would NOT prescribe her antibotics because her body was healing the infection on its own. Infact she has NEVER had antibiotics in her life!
