Stains in Jacket

Hey Moms,

I have my own in home daycare. Yesterday I took the kids out in the snow and because their clothes were so wet I threw them in the dryer. Well, one of the younger girls had a container of aquaphor in her pocket with no lid on it. To make a long story short...My son's jacket ended up with stains all over it. I washed it and they didn't come out. I know that oil based stuff is difficult to get out. Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks so much for all the advice. I tried a couple of different things and ended up doing an internet search where I found the dishsoap advice. I rubbed dawn all over the jacket and re-washed it and almost every stain came out. Thanks again. I feel like the best grime fighter in the world. LOL!!!

I'd advise to soak it (for several days) in a strong solution of all fabric bleach. This is a trick my mom uses and can get most any stain out. You just have to be patient and keep soaking it.

You know what always works like a charm for my laundry? Stain Stick by Spray N Wash. It's a miracle worker. Sometimes for tougher stains I do have to run them through 2 or 3 times with more stain stick applied but 99.9% of the time the stain will come out completely. Good luck!

Carbona makes a really good grease/lipstick stain remover. It comes in a little yellow bottle and can be found with the detergents at the grocery store. You might also try some of that Tide stain release. I received a sample in the mail and it got out a stain I couldnt get out the first wash. I hope you're able to save his coat!

Use a degreaser soap such as GooGone and then wash in warm water. Check to see if the stain is gone before putting in the dryer again. They do come out but sometimes it takes repeated treatments to accomplish this.

Bummer. I hate when I don't check pockets and find surprises!
2 products come to mind. 1- is something called Nature Bright, it is a laundry booster and stain remover. I have gotten red kool-aid, iodine, grass stains, baby stuff :) , blood...... is has natural enzymes, non-toxic, natural.... great stuff.

For example the bottle is 16oz and would equal 5,824 bottles of Windex. Super concentrated and you supply the water! so cool.

I do share/sell Shaklee and can help get this to you asap. Contact me to order or ask questions. ###-###-####

Hope this helps.

Soak it in oxy clean? There is something you canget at meijers called iron out it helps with tough stains you will wash the coat with just that than rewash it with your detergent the iron out smells funkie but it works.

Vinager for everything!

Zout always works for me, although sometimes I have to repeat it more than once. This works even if you have already dried the item. You usually can't see those oily stains until the item is dry anyway. Worth a shot.
