Sorry Kinda Gross Question

First sorry if this is TMI but, I've wanted to ask this for some time now. So, after I had my last child 4 1/2 years ago I had my tubes tied (well clamped actually). Since then I've noticed that every month about 7-10 days after my period I get crampy & emotional and I get a discharge for about 1 day. The discharge has no smell and it's only when I wipe but it's like a dark, globby, slime (sometimes a pretty good amount too). I never lost my mucus plug when I was preggo but, I'm guessing it may look like that. Anyone know what this could be?? Does it have anything to do with my tubes being tied? Thanks for the help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much to all that replied. I was thinking it was ovulation but to tell the truth (I know this is silly) I kinda thought that I did not ovulate anymore since my tubed were tied. Again, Thank you so much!!

You're lucky... a lot of women after tubal ligations get a repulsive smelling 'dark globby slime' every single day until menopause. To the degree of needing pantyliners every day. ((That and others -like mood swings or constant crabbiness are *finally* starting to make it into the lexicon of 'side effects' from tubals)). The docs in our office are part of one of the research groups looking into things that the previously male dominated med field simply BLEW OFF, saying that's just how women were / mothers with young children were / there couldn't be side effects since ovaries are still in place - and to be fair, there are NOT noticeable side effects from vasectomies, but men cycle through their hormones every 24hours at a max, some doing it several times a day, and women cycle through once a month... so it's a *much* longer hormonal process.))

Typically, when women start experiencing side effects from their tubals the docs in our group put them on birth control pills to regulate their hormones if it's just physical. For about 1/4th of those affected, however -specifically for those who have found themselves constantly enraged/pms'ing, beta blockers have been found to be very effective.

Note: I am neither a doctor nor a researcher, this is just from school & working in a women's clinic for some time.

That discharge after a ligation is normal. It's right at the time of ovulation, so many women who have not had a ligation have increased discharge during ovulation. Souns like easy and short PMS! ;)

You are ovulating. The discharge becomes thick, like an egg white consistency. The cramping could be that you're feeling the egg release, and that could give you cramps. This is all completely normal!

I think it's best to go to the doctor any time you notice a "strange" discharge. It could be just about anything.
I don't know that having your tubes tied would cause it as there really isn't any drainage that comes from your tubes. It could just be some left over uterine lining that doesn't come out with the rest of it during your actual period.
It could be something vaginal or cervical....the only way to know is to get an exam to make sure everything is cool.

Best wishes.
