Solar Screens for House Windows

Does anyone have any experience with solar screens for your house windows? Our house is very warm right now and the air is running constantly! We've had our units (we have 2 of them) checked out twice and they are in great condition. The response from the air conditioning guy is "hey - it's summer time in Texas - it's going to be hot!". But I can't get my house to cool below 78, sometimes even 80 upstairs, during the day time.

We have heard that solar screens may be helpful. Does anyone have them on their windows? If so, have they made a big difference? If so, who did you have install them?

We have the same problem. We got solar screens from Lone Star Solar Screens based in Irving this spring. It has made a HUGE difference to the temp upstairs until the triple digits hit. Before the screens it got up to 85 upstairs, now it is 82 and the AC is roaring. If the temps are in the 90's it stays cool to 78 upstairs. Once the triple digits hit, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Residential AC's (even the good ones) can only cool to 20 degrees lower than the outside temp. So with it being 107 outside right now, I guess 82 is not bad. Good luck!

I think solar screens make a big difference! They are definitely worth it. We used Lone Star Solar Screens as did our other family members and we have referred several people. Everyone has had a good experience with them.
Even with solar screens, my upstairs is usually around 80 when it is this hot outside. We also have 2 units, the smaller one cooling the upstairs. The downstairs stays ice cold, thank goodness. I think the screens have really helped.

I would like to highly recommend Sunny Side Out ###-###-####. The owner's name is Ken Parker and he's my neighbor. My husband and I feel we have been blessed with the Parkers as neighbors and we can personally vouch for their integrity and hard work.
