HEY GUYS!!! This is E.. Today I was driving through Broadripple and I almost hit a dog. I stopped and picked him up and he is now tethered in my back yard. He is an amazingly sweet chocolate lab. He has tags on, but the number on the tag has been disconnected. I posted on Craigslist and other sites and am looking hard to find his owner. He sits, shakes, lays down. He's a VERY GOOD BOY!!!! Here's the problem. I can't hang on to him. We have a dog and two cats PLUS Levi and my other animals would not be very happy if I let him inside. Is there ANYONE out there who would be willing to let him hang at your place while I find his home? I cannot bring myself to take him to the humane society. He is SOMEONE'S dog! He is very healthy and clean, he's just lost. Can someone help me?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

What can I do next?

Hi E.!

Take him to a vet to see if he has an electronic chip. Both of our dogs are chipped just in case they ever get out without their collars.

Another option....use www.switchboard.com and search for the telephone number. It may be disconnected when you call it, but they could still list the owner's number and then you can search for them by name. Just a thought.

Maybe you could take out an ad in the Indy star. If you dont want to pay for it maybe you could take up a collection @ work or have a drawing. The bonus and incentive (If lots of people did it) would be that the winner would get half of the money and the rest could go towards the add in the paper.

you should at least let the Humane Society know, often people check there to see if any one has reported finding an animal or brought one in. For sure try a vet for the micro chip.
