Single Mom of 5
My friend is a single mother of 5, works for a school distirct. She is losing her home. She has no idea where she might live. She needs help, badly. We don't have room for 6 more people in our home. Wondering if anyone know's of goverment housing, or anyother direction she might take. She lives within 30 miles of Willowbrook area. Any other idea of where she can get help to support her family? Anything. I am at a dead end.

She needs to apply for Tanif and HUD. Tanif is an emergency grant for distressed families. She needs to also get on food stamps. She can go to Houston Health and Human Services department and see what she can qualify for. She might be able to get on Housing (HUD- Section 8) where they pay most of the rent for her. There are programs out there they are just time comsuming and not fun to apply for but when you need help- get it.

Does she belong to a church? The church might be able to help. Champion Forest Baptist, on Steubner Airline, is my former church, and they help people.

I would encourage your friend to look for help through churches or organizations like Memorial Area Ministries, S.E.A.R.C.H., or Star of Hope Mission. These places have ways to help people who are working or looking for work who need help so they won't loose their home or apartment. There is also an organization called East Fort Bend Human Needs Minintry. They help people with groceries, electricity, rent, etc. The government just wants to keep people like your friend dependent and living on Wellfare and food stamps the rest of her life. It just becomes a viscious cycle. Ministries like those I mentioned want to help people acquire the skills, resources, self-confidence, and abilities to provide for themselves and their families - set new patterns of independence and financial stability for the future.

Have your friend call me at ###-###-####. I may be able to point her to the right direction as I work with grants for housing and know several government agencies that may help her. If she needs help selling her home before she loses it perhaps I can help her too. I will be more than happy to talk with her. I know the Willowbrook area very well. L. Garza

A.,
I have two suggestions for you. I hope they either give you some more direction or help. One place to start is if she has a church home home she can always go to them for help, that is what churches are there for. The next place to try out would be her school district. Depending on which district she works for they can either get her enrolled in programs faster, help out in some way, or possibly even let someone hold a fundraiser for her and her family. If I come up with anything else I will let you know. You and your friend will be in my prayers.
God Bless,
S.

Good morning, hope you are having a Blessed day.
I really dont know of any govermant housing but will look into it. What I can do first of all is tell you I will put your friend and her children in prayer with my friends. Also I dont know how her home situation is and what has put them in a situation to mabey lose their home. I will get together with my friends and see if we can come up with one months rent/mortage if you could find out how much she owes. Can you tell me if her children need any clotes or food.
Have a Blessed day
