My son is 17 weeks and sex still realllllly hurts. I had a very easy vaginal delivery with a little tear. What is wrong with me? Sex never hurt pre pregnancy at all. Is this normal??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for your help...this has not been the easiest question to ask:) I went to the doc and he told me everything looks normal...yea:)!!! He said that b/c I am 100% breast feeding my estrogen levels are low causing my insides to be thin and more sensitive. He said once i stop breast feeding it will all go back to normal. Yipeeeee! I still think nursing is the greatest thing ever and will continue until my son is 6 months old. My doc gave me some estrogen cream that i can apply 3 times a week and see if that helps. Thanks again for all your input...it is soooooo appreciated!

It took a long time after my son was born before sex was comfortable/enjoyable again... almost a year. It was also painful/uncomfortable during my pregnancy. I had four problems after my son's birth: vaginal dryness, sharp burning in the vaginal area as though I was having a reaction to the condoms we were using (but I think the walls were just very tender from not being able to produce enough natural lubrication), deep pain sometimes in the bladder/uterus area, and exterior pain at the c-section site.

At the same time, this wasn't entirely new to me because I went through a few years of sexual pain prior as well due to interstitial cystitis. The only thing I can say to help is that at least when it starts to feel good again you'll appreciate it all the more.

Hey C., The say wait 6 weeks, it has only been 7 for you, maybe you need to wait a little longer. And then if the pain continues see your doctor. J.

sex hurt for me looong after my son's birth. what i learned to do was to have it more often, and with a lubricant. sometimes it wouldn't be full sex, just hubby puttin it in so i would get used to it and vice versa.

and FYI, my pelvis STILL does not feel the same after giving birth to my son. it feels very weak and will sometimes pop/crack. and my back is a whole nother issue.

Hormones! You must use KY Jelly or something like that! If this doesn't help, talk to your doctor.

Are you using lube? If not, buy some. My doc recommended it at my 6 week appointment.

C.,

I waited 40 days and it still hurt- to be honest it took almost a whole year before my entire body felt normal. I also had vaginal deliveries (with both my boys) and nursed them.

Speak with your OBGYN and find out if something else is going on.

Give your body time to heal.

Take Care,
F.

C., what kind of pain are you experiencing? Do you experience pain in every position? I work with women with pelvic floor symptoms, etc. Pain isn't normal, but it will give you some clues into what may be weak, or misaligned, etc. Feel free to call me... I may be able to problem solve with you over the phone. www.momeezpt.com ###-###-####

I also found it hurt for quite awhile after my first child. It seemed like things were shifted around in my body. (If that makes any sense to you?)

It did go away and I did not have this problem after my second child. (Both were natural vaginal deliveries.)

Hang in there!

Hi C.: This page I left you,is some health facts from the univer.Of Mich. It is specifically about recovery time after giving birth. Its pretty good. It basically says, that while Drs. give an estimate time of 6 weeks to heal after birth, that every patient is different. Some will take a bit longer.I hope your feeling better soon C.,And congrats on your new baby boy.: )

Are you nursing? Nursing can sometimes actually thin your walls making sex hurt. It is temporary and only lasts while you are nursing :( Lube, Lube, Lube :)
