We are getting ready to sell our house in Dallas. We LOVE our neighborhood but our house is just too small for our growing family. I would appreciate any recommendations on a great neighborhood that is also family oriented. I am also interested in a neighborhood that we would be able to use the public school system. If you love your area, please pass along the good review.

We have looked into Lake Highlands but there are quite a few areas.....any insight would be great:)

I have friends who just moved to an area in far north Lake Highlands that not many people seem to know about. It is at the intersection of Royal and Greenville. Secluded, treed, good elementary schools, reasonably priced, big homes. Try a realtor.com or ziprealty.com search of area code 75243.

Well, are you interested in suburbs? What's your price range?? I completely love my neighborhood! We live near the Coit/Park intersection and I love the area around here. We're not far from the conveniences of shopping, grocery stores, etc., restaurants on Park/Preston.... our location is considered the west side of Plano ISD so our kids would go to West Plano Senior High. Our home is in close walking distance to the a paved hike/bike trail that goes from Park all the way north past Spring Creek. The neighborhood is safe to walk around at all times of the day and it's very family-oriented. Lots of parks. And if you want a bigger home in a bigger price range -- there are some newer homes just north of us. Let me know if you'd like more specific info on where we are.
I know other friends that love living in East Allen -- off Bethany (just east of Jupiter) and off Stacy Road (in Lost Creek home division). Allen is a family-friendly suburb, too. Lots of parks, lots of schools -- and they are building up more and more convenient stores, restaurants, etc. every day.

We live in University Terrace which is just off of NWY and Trammell and is a little south of Lake Highlands. We've only been here since March but I really like it. The neighborhood seems active w/moms groups and block parties. I walk around the neighborhood w/my 3 month old and small dog all hours of the day and evening. I also recently heard that Lakewood Heights just recently decided kids would not be bused - meaning they would attend their neighborhood public schools. So that's another neighborhood you may want to check into as well. University Terrace is 75214 zip code.

Good Luck!

We LOVE our neighborhood, but finances has forced us to put our home on the market.

We live in Plano and our son attends our wonderful neighborhood elementary school, that is just a 10 minute walk away.

We have lived here for 7 years and have a very close personal relationship with our neighbors (they are like family).

There are children all around us, as this is a great place to raise little ones.

It really pains us to have to make a move. We are living in our dream home, in our dream location.

If you are interested, e-mail me at ____@____.com and I will send you a link that contains pictures, a virtual tour and additional info about my home.

I live in Richardson, in the Canyon Creek Area. It is fabulous! I have lived in TX for about 6 years, nearly all in Canyon Creek. We are on our second home in the neighborhood, having outgrown our starter. Depending one where you live in the neighborhood, you could be in RISD or PISD. Family oriented, great schools, close to everything you need. I also highly recommend our realtor - Sandy Wolfe from Remax. Check out her website at dallasduo.com. You can get her contact info there. She lives in the neighborhood also, and is well versed on stuff going on there. Good luck!

I love love LOVE Coppell. We moved here three years ago and weren't planning to stay, but then we fell in love w/ the community amenities and the convenient location and at this rate we may never leave. Daughter isn't school age yet but the schools have a good reputation as far as I can tell. We use the city park system nearly every day for jogging/biking/swimming/playing at the KidCountry, we love the farmer's market and other community activities, you have all the retail/restaurants/movie theatres you could want or need w/in 10 min drive (and grocery stores, banks, etc., w/in biking distance). The 161 and 121 tollways are only making this area easier to get in and out of.

The downside is that the real estate price per square foot and property taxes are both high -- but it's a town that's worth looking at. For most of the reasons above I would also recommend parts of Flower Mound (the south part), Colleyville and Grapevine.
