Seeking Quality Handyman

Hi Mamas,

I am in the process of searching for a quality handyman to do multiple jobs in my home. I live in Wilmette, and feel like I'm getting "the special north shore pricing." I have gotten a couple of refferrals from friends, and so far, the prices are unreasonably high. I have a list of things to do - but none of it is major construction, just fix-it type stuff, and I have quotes for thousands of dollars! One guy told me not to fix the leaky faucet in the utility sink, but to buy a whole new one - there is nothing wrong with the sink, it just has a leaky faucet!

We used to live in the city, and had a handyman service, and while we could use them again, they send a different person every time. I'd like to establish a working relationship with someone, rather than deal with a new person on each visit. There must be honest, reliable handymen out there that won't charge me more because of my zip code. Any reccomendations will be truly appreciated!

Thank you all so much! You don't know how happy you have made me. I will start calling around to get estimates next week, and really appreciate your taking time out of your busy day to assist me. Thanks again!

Hi!

I have a GREAT guy- he is very knowledgable, his prices are fair and he is very honest. He has done a ton of work on our house and we have been comppletely happy with it (we have a fixer-upper!). He will also teach you how to fix things, if you want to learn! His name is Ray Mroczenski and his company is Green Slate Servcies. The number is ###-###-####. We can't say enough good things about him- his work has saved us a lot of money over the years and my husband has loved learning from him, too!
Good luck! N.

There is nothing like Steve and Scott Krieman. These brothers are unbelievable workmen who can problem solve anything! Steve and his family live right there in Wilmette and are so fair and reasonable. They've done everything for us!! Love them. ###-###-#### ____@____.com

M., we just had work done by someone I know from our church. He installed new countertops and sink in our kitchen. I heard him tell my landlady he charged $30 an hour. We live on the north side and I don't know if he would travel to Wilmette, but his name is Scott, he does very good work, is very conscientious, arrives when he says he will, etc. The number is ###-###-####. His wife told me that when people do get him, they keep calling him back because his work is good. I agree wholeheartedly. Good luck. Let me know if this works for you.

Try Honey do Home tasking - I got him out of the yellow pages - I don't live on the north side but got 2 quotes for the same job and he was very reasonable. He is also on Angie's list and I have had business associates use him more than once.
His number is ###-###-#### - he lives in Mt. Prospect
