Handyperson Needed in Chicago

I live in Bucktown in Chicago with my six year-old daughter. Since her dad left several years ago, there have been various projects around our home that just haven't gotten done; I am either inept at doing them or physically incapable of doing them. I'm finally ready to bring in a handyperson to take care of these small jobs. And I do mean small. For example, a desk needs to be put together, a large rug needs to be taken out to the alley, a bed needs to be disassembled in one room and reassembled in another room, etc. I'm willing to pay well for someone to help me and my daughter feel like we're living in a home instead of a transitory space. I should add that I'm a perfectionist, and am looking for someone with equally high standards. If anyone can recommend someone for this type of work, I would appreciate it.

What can I do next?

I have used Dave Bernick for similar projects (he assembled a crib for us, hung window treatments, etc) as well as larger construction projects. He is really nice guy and there is "no job too small" ###-###-####

Hi C.,

I live in the West Loop and have worked with David Shanahan from Wilmette Handymen for a range of things (ceiling painting, deck washing, pocket door installation). I don't have his number handy, though. He is honest, fair and his people are hard workers. Company motto is "no job too small." I'm sure you can find him in phone book. If not, email me at ____@____.com and I can get you his info tomorrow.
Good luck,

M.

I always found the best tradesman/woman from my local hardware store. They give the best referrals because they hear the complaints as well as the compliments from their customers. M.
