Seeking Pediatric Dermatologist in Dallas

Does anyone know of a pediatric dermatologist in Dallas? My 3.5 year old daughter has a skin problem called Keratosis Pilaris. It always flares up badly in the winter and I am hoping to find a doctor who can help. We visited one doctor who didn't really seem to have any ideas and I know this is not a terribly unusual condition, so there must be a better doc out there. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. We live in East Dallas, so a doc inside the loop would be preferred.

What can I do next?

This might sound a little crazy, but my ENT shares an office with a pediatric derm. I just found this out last week when calling to make an appt with the ENT. I have no idea what the drs name is, but if you call my ENT's number, the receptionist should be able to answer any questions. ENT is Henry Carder at ###-###-####. Oh, and they are located off of Walnut Hill by Presby, so well within the loop.

My daughter has the same condition. I was just at her doctor's last week and he told me there is only one true pedriatric dermatologist in Dallas. He said that any dermatologist will be able to treat it. He also gave me list of items to help the condition ( it is my understanding that this never goes away although you can lessen it). The list suggested to wash her with dove unscented soap. For lotion it listed either: Curel, Eucerin, Lubiderm, Moisturel, Aquaphor, or Theraplex Emollient. I just started this routine the other night and noticed a vast difference. Let me know if you find out anything that works as well. I did also get a prescription for steroid cream that we plan on starting tommorow.

I would also recommend Dr. Kerry Robin Carder. She also sees patients at Children's Medical, and is known to be one of the best in Dallas. I don't think she's new in her field at all, even if she just opened a new practice.

We had a good experience when my daughter saw her for eczema.

The numbers I have for her are ###-###-#### (at Children's) and ###-###-####.

I highly recommend Dr. Ponciano Cruz. He is out of Southwestern Medical Ctr (I realize that can be a bit far for some but I go from Garland and he's that good.) He was also recommended from one of 5 Dermatologists in the country that specializes in Chemical Sensitivities. His ####-###-####. My daughter is alergic to ALL fragrences and formaldehyde so I realize the frustrations of skin irratations etc. If you want to talk live you can email me ____@____.com or my cell ###-###-####. Good luck!

My son also has KP and I live in East Dallas too. We have seen Dr. Carder. Very nice. I would return to her if needed. Clinically, the dr's aren't able to give you more than just topical creams to treat KP. A humidifier may be recommended in the winter months. The dry heat tends to make the skin condition worse. My son is/was considered severe....has it on his cheeks, chin, arms, legs, & buttocks. I have found an "alternative remedy" that works VERY well. I used to have strangers ask me about his "rash" (just breaking my heart!) and now it's hardly noticable. The difference has been amazing. Anyway, I found his current treatment online (helpforkp.com) based on the theory that KP is a vit a deficiency. I have adjusted the recipe specifically for my child....such as I use beta carotene instead of Vit a because it's metabolized by the kidney instead of the liver. I bought everything at Whole Foods on Greenville Ave. Please feel free to contact me ____@____.com if you have any questions.

Hi, J.:
My husband and I really liked Dr.Kerry Robin Carder. She started her practice not so long ago, but she seems very knowledgable. She shares office with her father, and it's located on Walnut Hill Ln, across from Presby Dallas. The phone number there is ###-###-####.

Good luck
