Insurance Is Changing and I Need a New Pediatrician in Our Area...

My husbands insurance is changing soon to Principal Financial. Our current pediatrician, Dr. Hubbard & Associates from PAD, do not take this insurance. We live in Lake Highlands and we are looking for something close to home. We have been referred to Dr. Burns but she is not taking new patients. Does anyone have a good recomendation? I would greatly appreciate it!

What can I do next?

We use Dr. Chris Straughn at Forest Lane Pediatrics, at Medical City, Forest/75. There are 3 other Drs. there who are all terrific. They have Sat. hours. The two things I like best are that Dr. Straughn will always sit down and listen to your questions and concerns. Also, there is a nurseline where you can leave a msg for the nurse regarding any issue you are having (my most recent question was regarding my baby's constipation) and they will call you back with really helpful advice and will consult with the Dr. as well before calling you.

If there is a specific Dr you want to use but that Dr is not taking new patients, call and ask if one of their office partners are accepting new patients and which one they recommend . That way you are with a Dr in the same office and it may be easier to transfer over to the Dr you wanted in the first place when an opening does come up. If an opening does not arise you are at least with a Dr that is trusted by the Dr you preferred.

I have been using Dr. Hieber for almost 10 years and I have picked my insurance plan around the fact the they took it. He was highly recommened to me by someone I worked with, whose child was a premie and had many health issues. He is in the Clinical Pediatric Assoc. They are off of Walnut Hill Lane and Greenville(just behind the bank). He is in a group of doctors that are all good. They have Saturday appointments, and once my son was so sick, they even saw him at the office on a Sunday.

i have always used dr bassell in garland..he is awesome..i have 4 kids and one was had what we thought was a possible terminal metabolic illness when she was a baby and he was amazing with the amount of time he gave us!!

Dr. Burns is in the same office where my kids go, Clinical Pedi, over by Presby. Most of the drs in that group and really good. We see Dr. Hieber.

I live in Lakewood Heights. You could try and see if Dr. Dana Peterman is still taking patients.
She is so sweet! She is in practice with our regular pediatrician, Dr. Chris Abel. When we have her I am always impressed by her patience and bedside manner; just precious!
Their number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

I don't know where Lake Highlands is, so chances are this will be too far, but .... I really like my son's pediatrician, Dr. Rupal Chiniwala, at the Trinity medical center in Carrollton near Plano ###-###-####.

The best we have ever had is Ernie Fernandez across from Presby on Walnut Hill. Very thorough and the kids loved him plus the added that he has hours at Children's in the Endocrine office which was awesome since I have a child with type 1 diabetes. Our insurance changed and we could no longer go........great staff too!
