Hi All,...This is my first post! I am interested in participating in a moms group who have children my sons age (5 weeks). I have signed up for a mommy & me class, but it doesn't start until February. I have so many questions and concerns and feel as though I am just floundering right now. I second guess myself about EVERYTHING, and would love to hear other moms experiences. February is a long ways away to begin getting answers. Would love to have play time with other mommies and their kids, and have a great excuse to get out of the house. If there is a group out there with young ones like mine,...I would love to join!

Hi D.,

You need a support group for new moms! Jewish Family Service offers a terrific program called "New Baby School," facilitated by an LCSW, that would be perfect for you, but it meets in the city, in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood. If you're interested, I'd be happy to connect you... feel free to contact me anytime.

D. - The Mommywise and breastfeeding support groups at Providence St. Joseph's hospital in Burbank were a life-saver for me when my baby was first born. I'd call and double check the times, as the Mommy group fluctuates depending on how many moms and babies are attending. They can also tell you where to park.

Not sure where you are located in the SFV, but I promise it is worth the drive!

Good luck, I'm sure you're doing GREAT!

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that there are a few really nice mom's groups in the area. The Valley Moms Social Club is a great group of moms and the kids are all pretty young (mostly under 2 1/2 ys). My son is 3 1/2 so we don't participate as often as we have in other groups in the past but they seem to be a nice group of local moms with plenty of events going on all the time. Also, there is the Terrific LA Moms, No Drama Mamas, and you can always look up your local "mom's club of_______(your city)" on Google. The local mom's clubs are really great because they are comprised of moms who live in your city only (ex. Mom's Club of Sherman Oaks or Studio City) and the kids start out pretty young, the only thing is that you have to pay a small yearly membership fee for "The Mom's Clubs" as opposed to the first few moms' groups I mentioned - totally free! You can find any of these groups on Google by the way. They usually require you to "request to be a member" and they'll email you a response in a couple of days, but I've never heard of a mom who was rejected! Good luck! :)

hi D. ~ i recently joined this group http://www.meetup.com/sanfernandovalleyparents/ i was invited by a mother here on mamasource. i went to one meetup so far and it was really fun. the organizer has a 5 week old son and there was another woman there with a 2 1/2 week old daughter! also my friend joined who has a 5 week old son now too. my daughter is 3 1/2 months old - you get the gist. there were some older babies too, it's great to meet up with moms with older babies so you can get an idea of what to expect next!

anyway, check it out and hope to see you at one of the meetups.
