I have recently moved to San Francisco and will be living in Walnut Creek once we close on our house. I was very involved in playgroups in NYC before I moved and am a stay at home mom and was hoping to find a new playgroup in Walnut Creek so my 12 month old son can interact with new friends!

What can I do next?

Welcome!
The John Muir Women's Health Center in Walnut Creek (corner of California and Civic) has playgroups/ info sessions organized by age on Thursdays. The 1-2 years group meets at 11:45. I've met great mothers there when I moved to the area 8 months ago.

Hi K.,

Welcome to the area!!! I am not sure which part of Walnut Creek you are in, but there is anther mom's group called Lamorinda Mom's Club...www.lamorindamomsclub.org. This group is for the areas of Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda, but I know there are people from Concord, Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill as well. We currently live in Lafayette, but will be moving to Walnut Creek soon. I will continue to belong to Lamorinda mom's. It has great resources online and off. I am a part of a playgroup that the babies are all within a few weeks of each other! It is a lot of fun to have all of the babies around the same age. This may be the same with the Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek mom's club, I don't know.

Where did you move from in the city? My husband and I used to live in Midtown on the East side. It is different out here, but we like it a lot better:) If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact me at ____@____.com luck with moving!

Hi!

Welcome to the Bay Area and to the East Bay. There is a Mother's Group called the Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek Mother's Group that you could join. There is also a LaMorinda Mom's Club.

But, you should also come and try a free preview class at Gymboree in Lafayette. You would definitely get to meet people from both the LaMorinda area (Lafayette, Orinda and Moraga) as well as Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek. Your child would be in a level 3 class. For more information on Gymboree, you can check us out at www.gymboreeclasses.com. The Mom's Clubs will also have websites that you can google.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

What size playgroup are you looking for? The PH/WC Moms group is GREAT for a large group-- it has TONS of resources (www.mom4mom.org)

BUT

if you are looking for a smaller group, check out meetup. (www.moms.meetup.com)
There are two fantastic moms groups there in your area:
www.moms.meetup.com/370 The Contra Costa County Moms Meetup
www.moms.meetup.com/1296 The Diablo Valley Parents Group.

All three of these groups I have belonged to at one point in time. I belong to only one of them now----- I won't say which one so you can find the group you fit with best! :) Good luck!

I joined the Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek Mom's club when I had a new baby. There's the larger mom's club and then smaller playgroups within it grouped by age. I'm sure someone would love to have you join. The web addres is http://www.mom4mom.org
