Seeking Mom in Troy/Birmingham Area

Hi
I am new to Troy ( we moved here from Texas 2 month ago) and I just join Lifetime Fitness mainly because I wanted my son to have some kids to play with (he is 2y and 9 month old)on a regular base. Now I was wondering if any of you moms are member of this Gym and if you would be interested on swimming or doing fitness together.
I am a stay at home mom and we know nobody in this area so I am kind of lonely and in need for grow up conversation (talking about Thomas the Tank Engine and its adventure with my son it is not what I call conversation)

We initially tried going everyday to the park but it lookam looking for moms who would like to w

What can I do next?

I teach a mommy-tot class in Troy. It's a great place to have fun with your child and meet other mommy friends! :) My own son was in the class last year and we both made great friends that we still see all the time. Check us out if you're interested: www.troycooppreschool.com

Hi

My name is K. and I am a SAHM in Troy and I am a member of that gym but I just gave birth so it'll be awhile till I'm awake enough to go back :)

However I would like to let you know about a MOMS Club I'm a member of. It is the MOMS Club of Madison Heights but it includes Troy and Hazel Park. It is for stay at home moms and all the members are great. We have activities practically everyday of the week including stroller walks and park playdates.

If you're interested just let me know and I'll be happy to send you all the information. Or if you're patient I'll be up and around again soon and am always looking for new friends! My girls are older and younger than your son (3 and 21 months) and in the club we have kids of all ages.

Hope to hear from you,
K.

Sorry I do not belong to lifetime. I also am a stay at home mom but my daughter is older (31/2) and in preschool on mon, wed, fri. When they were little (and now) I looked for things to do everyday in the AM. I used this website called Gocitykids.com and viewed the calendar. Its awesome! I also know that meetup.com is a great way to meet playgroup people. My friend does it in Northville but they are all over. Good Luck.

Hey there!
I feel your pain. I moved from Georgia almost 13 years ago and it was a shock to my system. Now I'm involved in my church & have many friends, of course, but the initial transition was rough. I wouldn't mind chatting if you need someone to talk to.

F.- I live in Roch Hills and work out at Fitness 19-- so I can't work out with you. But...my suggestion is to find a class to do during the week with your son. I work full time...but did gymnastics/tumbling with my son and gymboree with my daughter on Sats...and we meet a lot of friends that way! Gymboree is great b/c it requires group time and parent participation, you really get to know the other moms.

F.,

Welcome to Michigan! My family and I moved from Tennessee to Virginia a couple of years ago and have loved it! Well, except for the long winters. :)

I agree with another one of the moms that suggested you join a MOPS group in your area. This is my third and final year attending as my youngest is now in kindergarten. I attend one at Shepard's Gate Lutheran on 23 Mile Road (just across from Walmart). Our next meeting is Friday, September 25th at 9:30am if you're interested in attending. If you would like more information just send me a private message.

If you're like me and have a southern accent just know you will still be asked where you're from a couple of years from now. You will also find most people from Michigan think they don't have an accent...but we know they do. :)

Good luck and hang in there!
