Hello Ladies,
I am currently seeking a lawyer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to represent me in a divorce/custody hearing. My husband & I have been married for 2 1/2 years. The marriage started off on a good start, so I thought, however, when I got pregnant with our son (who is now 4 months old) my husband changed on me. He had an affair during this time, & has refuse to let the affair go & is seriously considering marrying this woman. Lately, he has been texting me telling me that he love me & his son, but not enough to say come home & lets work things out. Along with this problem, the other problem is the woman he has had the affair with is now texting and calling me. I have repeatedly told him of it, and he has assured me that it won't happen again. Needless to say, nothing is being done about it. How do I go about handling this situation with her, without hurting my case? Please know, my husband has made it clear to me that he does not want custody of our son because he don't want to start over in raising a child.(Note: this is my first child, his fourth child). However, as the days go by, he changes his mind like we change our undergarments. Of course there is so much more to this case, but time and space wont permit me to tell it all. I do not want to be left unprotected, concerning this matter. I have called around & spoken with several lawyers, but due to the high cost of the retaining fee to get started, I am unable to hire one at this time. Do any of you know of a good lawyer, or are you yourself a good lawyer, that can help me with my case, without requiring such a large retaining fee to get started? Please, time is of the essence. Thank you in advance for your help.

Have you considered seeking help from the pre-paid legal service. Look into their legal services and see if they are somewhat more affordable for you. I wish you well. As soon as I'm employed and can get on my own feet I too will be going to seek an attorney myself.

Please start with Legal Aid of Northwest Texas. They handle cases for free if you are in a certain income range, but if you are over that then they can refer you to someone that will be lower cost. Their website is www.lanwt.org. Good luck and I am so sorry you are going through this with a new baby.

Here is a link to a site my friend A. runs. They handle all of the paperwork for divorce for you. www.simplifydivorce.com I also STRONGLY recommend the law firm of John P. White Jr., 400 E. Weatherford St., Ft. Worth, Tx 76102. ###-###-####. He is the best in Fort Worth, hands down. Make an appointment to talk to him, he may be able to work with you on costs, and he is worth every dime. Stephanie Duggar Woodard. She represented my ex in the custody battle. If I had been smart, she would have been my attorney. Another excellent attorney Goodman & Clark. ###-###-####. I am so sorry for the loss of your marriage. Can you go see FireProof or get your ex to see it, or get some counseling. Seriously, what my son has gone through throughout this entire ordeal has been awful. If I could look back from here and change things I would.

Have a blessed. A.

She is one of the best in Tarrant County. She is on a first name basis with all the judges, if you get my meaning. She is NOT cheap, but worth every penny!

She will get you and your child what you deserve!

Tell her P. told you to call. She is also a family friend, and handled my divorce 6 years ago.

A. you might contact West Legal Services, they charge on a sliding scale but they are really good. They deal alot with Women straight from the Women's Shelters so they act quick, especially if you or your Child are in any danger. But they are excellent at seeing through the BS that Men like your Husband pull. With him changing his mind every other day, I'm sure they would act pretty fast. If you hire at attorney check them out! My son has paid some big money to 2 different attorneys in Fort Worth just trying to get visitation rights & me visitation rights. They both took his money and virtually no representation. One didn't even show up for Court and her office told my son to wait outside the Courtroom, she was in the building & she would be there in a few minutes. Finally, he saw the Child's Mother & Attorney walk out smiling. He called attorney's office & they said go home & call them. Then he found out he just Lost an appeal that He typed & filed himself & she wasn't in the Courthouse but in a class somewhere. Another one told the Judge she didn't want a transcript or recording of the hearing & for me & my son not to say anything. For my son to just say yes & no as she had directed him. My son has a binder to prove everything he has done, she's done, an attorney's dream. Her attorney put her on the witness stand where she lied, lied & committed all kinds of perjury. His attorney didn't cross examine her about anything. The attorney could have pulled out document after document to prove she was lying but didn't. Now he can't get a transcript or anything about that hearing. His son will be 2 in March and I still have never been allowed to see him because his Mother swears she's scared to death of me & my husband & my son. She swears she is a victim of Domestic Violence but has not had to show one document or witness that she has any proof of this. She just doesn't want me to see him because I didn't put a gun to my sons head and demand he marry her. Both attorneys only made him put a small amout down $500 to get started. So really be careful, who you hire. Best of Luck! Oh she's so scared of my son that she wanted visitation to be him, her & baby ONLY at McDonald's.

Leslie Combs is another WONDERFUL attorney. She only does Fmaily Law and I know she is very reasonable with her rates and does have payment plans. She will give you a very detailed free consultation. And tell you exactly what you need what your rights are and what the fee's would be. Her office is downtown Fort Worth, but depending on what county your case would be filed in, you'll prob. want to choose an atty. in that county because even tho most Atty's work both Tarrant and Dallas counties if their office is in one or the other, their more likely to charge more to travel. Her number is ###-###-####! Good Luck!
