Seeking Help in Projecting Finances for a New Business

Is there anybody who could help me or refer me to somebody that could help with filling out these forms to show my financial projections, and start up costs for a salon I plan to open hopefully as soon as I get this SBA loan. I have the templates, but being new to this I find them a bit confusing. I'm no idiot, just a neophyte. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated. I am in the Burlingame/San Mateo area.

What can I do next?

I am so sorry for your loss... I cannot imagine how hard it is for you - I am also a single mom - my son's dad left when I was pregnant.

I started a small business 3 years ago and still cannot qualify for an SBA loan - I don't yet make any money and just about ready to call it quits because I am sick of being broke - but the kids and I have worked sooooo hard - I hate all that to have been for nothing...

I wish I could help you - but I can tell you there are a lot of hidden expenses you don't think about ahead of time depending on the type of business you are starting - tell me more and I will help you if I can.

Check out SCORE. They are retired executives that can assist you. You can find their information on the small business association website. The small business association, also, has classes on financial information for your business.

The Small Business Association is located in San Franciso and Santa Clara. Also, the main San Mateo Library often has classes on starting your business. They, also, have reference books to help you.

An excellent class I took was at Canada College in Redwood City. It was a business class in the evening and Mike Genevro is the teacher. The assignment for the final was to make a business plan. Go to www.smccd.net. Check on Canada College and look at the business classes.

I would suggest that you contact the Women's Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women plan and start their own businesses through business and personal development training and financial services. You can check out their website at WomensInitiative.org or call ###-###-####. Although the headquarters is in SF, I believe there are locations across much of the Bay Area. I recently became aware of this organization and have heard great things about their support to women entrepreneurs who are also trying to balance family care and other obligations. Good luck!
