Seeking Entertainment Ideas for My Daughters Two Year Old Birthday Party

i think it would be fun to get a bunch of rubber ducks and number them and let the kids catch them have prize chest's with differnt party favors for the differnt #'s,,,you might want to get a few nets for there may be kids that dont like the pool ,but that way they can still get the ducks,,,,,you can play games with a pool blow up ball and you could even put some live gold fisf in there go to bait shop to buy them ythey are lots cheaper

Not sure if you would be interested in something like this or not but I do parties for kids. One of my most popular parties is the Build-Your-Own Stuffed Animal parties. Much like Build A Bear but I come to your house or party location and bring all the unstuffed animals, stuffing, wish stars, birth certificates and so on and each child gets to stuff the animal of their choice by hand!!! Kids really have a blast during this party and the parents have fun too!

If you are having a pool party for two year olds HIRE AN INDEPENDENT LIFE GUARD!! We have a pool and I have had to jump in and pull kids out of the water at least 5 times- all during parties where parents were there. NO ONE watches their own kids and it is your pool/your responsibility. Could you live there if someone died in your pool? If you don't get a life guard, be sure to put on the invitations that parents are to be in the pool with their kids at all times. Otherwise you will have ONE parent (at least) who thinks this is her chance to get some shopping done and will drop off her two year old. This can really be a problem when the kids are a little older and can "swim" - meaning they can jump off the steps of the pool and come to a waiting mama- but not really get from point A to point B. Whenever we have new kids that I do not know come to our house to swim- I make them swim the width of the pool. If they can't do it then they either wear life jackets or I am in the pool with them. My kids are now 10,12 and 16- we have had our pool for 9 years- and still they have some friends that do not swim or do not swim well.
Just a warning. I actually was sitting next to a woman by my pool talking and watching the kids. Her daughter went under and popped up, gasping and the mom said "Are you alright?". The kid didn't answer, went down again and barely came back above water and still the mom did not move but said louder "Are you OK?" Obviously she wasn't so I jumped in and grabbed her - this was in 4 feet of water but over the child's head- and pulled her to the side (maybe 5 inches out of her reach). The mom- who had been closer to her than I was- said "Oh, Thank you so much! I don't know how to swim so I didn't know what to do." I guess if I hadn't been there she would have drowned? I don't know.

If you have a pool, that's enough for children. We had a swimming party for our boys last year, and thought that wouldn't be enough. So we rented a moon-walk and a snow-cone maker. Our kids were the only ones to jump in the jumper. We forget that the other kids don't have a pool to swim in every day. That was enough of a treat for them. The snow-cone maker WAS a hit though. The party went on for 4-5 hours. We had the men grilling hot dogs and sausages. The kids were so entertained with just swimming, eating hot dogs, and snow cones.

We went to a birthday party recently and the parents hired a woman to come and teach Hula Dancing pool side - it was pretty cool.
There are lots of childrens entertainers here in Austin - my favorite is Staci Gray - she is pretty reasonable and lots of fun.
Just playing in the pool, eating some lunch and then doing a birthday cake is great fun too. Kids will have fun anyway.

I know you've received several posts about the children's safety at a swim party and I don't mean to beat a dead horse with this topic but my 6 year old has been to two swim parties in the past year and at both there was occasion for an adult to jump in to help a child (one adult was fully clothed). Along with possibly hiring a lifeguard, if you expect a large number of children (more than 10?) consider removing any large inflatables from the pool before the party. My son attended a "welcome to kindergarten" party that his roommom threw for the entire class. When we arrived there was a huge inflatable castle as well as two large inflatable ride ons in the pool. Sure enough about 45 minutes into the party a little boy ended up under the large castle and could not get up. Luckily his mom was watching and jumped in but it was hard to see him under the toy with several children on top of the inflatable and all around it.

As far as entertainment goes EJC Farms out of Magnolia will bring ponies to your home for pony rides. You also could set up some craft tables with different things for the kiddos to make.

hi S.-i am sure you are going to receive all th info you can about entertainment, but i want to offer another suggestion for the party.

please hire a certified life guard to look over all the young ones in or near the pool. i realize you don't expect any of the kids to be in the water without their adult, but things can go wrong. it would be a shame to have an accident mar what should be an exciting and wonderful event.

having this person on point to protect those in the pool will be better than a guest doing this, what with the party and kids running all around, etc. she would be able to focus on the water only.

You can make it into a Luau Party. Make everyone come dressed in their Luau atire. Mother and servers or helpers must dress is grass skirts. You can have a Karioke out there for them to sing and dance away from the pool of course. A lot of the decorations you will find at the Dollar store. There is alot you can do with this theme and at the same time it can be memorable. Okay I just saw she is turning two forget the karioke. Have the best dressed child in Luau atire contest.

Once the little ones see the pool that's all the entertainment you'll need. Kids can swim all day

Hi S.: Just wanted to pass along that my 2 yr old can't stay in the pool longer than 45 minutes. She just doesn't have the body heat reserves. Her teeth start chattering and lips start to get dark,like they're about to turn purple, even on hot days... Its the first sign of core body temperature dropping and hypothermia.

So offering something else to do besides swimming is a good idea, especially if you have younger children present.

How about a balloon maker?

I would love to have a pool. I do agree to hire a life gaurd just for the safety. You can never be to sure about kids and the pool. Parents get into the party themself and dont wacth there kids. It only take a second too.

I love the idea of the dancers, lulu dress required. Go all out with it. Buy tons of decorations and fruits. We did a mini one for my niece and she love Elomo but we put Elmo is a grass skirt (pinta). If you need help I am a event consulatnt I also do birthday parties.
