Hi S., We have a lab and could not be happier. He's gorgeous, sweet, smart, and he's a rescue. The animal rescues are overflowing with dogs young and old, full breeds and mixes, who need homes. I highly recommend checking out these sweet animals before going to a breeder. Here is just one of many rescues, that focuses on labs. Southern California Labrador Retriever Rescue: http://www.sclrr.org/ It's a way to get a dog that you can feel good about on so many levels- you'll save a life and a ton of cash. Best wishes for many years filled with the love of a great dog!
Peace! J.

We got our lab, who is now 9.5, from Sun Country Labs in Yorba Linda. Our "first child" has been amazing and we could not be happier. Julie Brady, the owner/breeder of Sun Country, is fabulous and you would not go wrong with adopting a lab puppy from her. Check out their website at http://www.suncountrylabs.com/. Best wishes!

Hi! We got our lab from Serenes Sugarplum Acres in Riverside. He is the BEST dog! Before we got him we met a yellow lab while walking our other dog on the greenbelt. He was such a great dog with such a great temperment, so fun and happy all the time, so we asked where they got him, since we were looking for a playmate for our older dog. We've been so happy with our lab, and he has the same temperment of that other dog we fell in love with! Since then we have met other dogs in the southbay that come from the same breeder, its easy to pick them out becaurse they all have the same look of a true english lab, and all the same temperment. They only breed english laboradors, who are the true labs, with the box chest, block head, and just so fun and easy going. He was so easy to train and is now 5 and just wonderful with our babies who are 5 months and 20 months. The website is serenes.com, so you can look at some pictures. If we ever get another lab, we wouldn't go anywhere else! If you don't choose this breeder, be careful that you really get a true enlish lab, b/c if your not careful, you can wind up with an American lab, they are taller, longer, not boxey, and have a longer snout. They are also much more hyperactive and shorter attention span, like the dog in "Marley and Me". The english labs are more mellow and easy to train. Good luck!

Hi S.,
I couldn't pass by your request without urging you to check out some rescue sites first. There are so many types of dogs including the breed you're seeking, young & old that need homes, I feel breeding more dogs is somewhat irresponsible. We now have a family dog that my sister found in her front yard and was known by neighbors as a stray. We were not even looking for a pet, but she found us! She is a wonderful playmate for my children and my 5 year old daughter has a sense of pride knowing we saved a sweet doggie that didn't have a home, family or anyone that loved her! What a wonderful opportunity to show your children what compassion can truly do in this world of ours...
I'm sure you could find a labrador puppy who already needs a home.
All the best to you and your family,
M. (Redondo Beach, mother of 2 with 1 more in the oven)

Another good option is to look into Labrador rescues. They have dogs of all ages that need homes. Choosing a dog who is past the puppy stage also allows you to see their personality more clearly and you avoid the stresses of housebreaking him/her too!
