Seeking a Dermatologist/Arlington

I recently had a biopsy taken from my back. It showed basal cell carcinoma. (the "good" kind of cancer) It was removed the next week. It was a small area (nickel size) and the Dr. expected 2 stitches. That night, my husband was going to redress it and gasped. It was 6 stitches and a 2" incision. I felt like she should have discussed the outcome with me so I could voice any questions or concerns. Today, the stitches were removed and I thought I was going to get a chance to speak w/her - but to my surprise, I would have to be put on the appointment register, pay a co-pay and worked in. I teach preschool in my home and had parents needing to get to work, so I left a message for her to have a phone consultation. She talks really fast and I have to ask her to repeat what she's saying sometimes 3 times. She hurries in and hurries out. I may be overreacting, but I'm feeling I would like a Dr. that is conscience of a patients' need "to know what's going on" - and this may be asking for too much - but a Dr. with a caring attitude.

I had to pay a co-pay for each visit (3) and no co-pay for the 4th to remove the stitches because the Dr. wasn't seen. I've never had to pay a co-pay for each visit for ONE "procedure." Is this common?

What can I do next?

I see Dr. Mary Adams at Arlington Dermatology and have been very pleased with all aspects of her practice.I have also had skin cancers (same type as yours) and am seeing her again on the 15th to have another removed!

Dr. Blum in arlington on sw green oaks blvd..he is amazing!!

Dr. Angela Moore is great. She was recommended by my friend/Opthamologist. She is in N. Arlington on Lamar.

It's pretty standard to pay one copay for each visit, not each procedure.

Dr. Dudley Goetz on Randol Mill is incredible! I wish he was a primary care doctor! He spends SO much time with you in his room that often times there is a bit of a wait for your appointment :)
