Hi Moms!

I have a 5 month old baby boy and we are looking for a new pediatrition. I have not been very impressed with the one we are going to, mostly because I feel he doesn't pay attention to details and never asks questions about former concerns to see if they've been resolved. I also am really looking for a doctor who is more open to a more holistic approach regarding holding back on vaccines ect. My baby was born at the Birth Center in Holladay Utah, and overall I have kind of a hands-off appreach when it comes to any sort of drugs period. It would be nice to find a pediatrition who is at the very least accepting of other methods that are slightly outside the norm. I'm not a health nut (though I respect people very greatly who are that health conscious!) but I do differ from the norm in some ways and It would be nice to find a doctor to supports that. I also really want someone who pays attention to detail and also keeps me informed about what to expect that is coming up in my child's development.

So, we are looking for a new pediatritian as well as a family Physician for my husband and I. I would really love it if we could find both in the same office and have just one family doctor, but If we need to have separate ones than thats okay too. Hope you ladies can help!

What can I do next?

I love Shelley Savage. She is a family physician and does everything under the sun. She is fantastic and I love the other doctors over there, too. She's on the hill between provo and orem and her practice is called Grandview Family Medicine. She delivered my son and does pediatrics for both my kids. If my husband ever gets sick (which he never does) he'll likely go there, too. :) She's always been really laid back with me but I do all the vaccinations and whatnot so I'm not sure how she feels about that? You could give her a try. I love having a family practitioner because I can ask her stuff about me while I"m there with the kids and vice versa. I love it!

Hi K.,
Hands down, your answer is Vaughn Johnson at Mountain Peaks Family Practice. He is on 800 N in Orem. He is a D.O., not an M.D. I assume you know the difference (whole person vs symptom treatment). He is very open, very much relies on Mom's intuition, very open to any wishes of the parent. He is family practice so your whole family can see him. He is extremely personable. Check him out.

Well... I don't know about a family practice, or really much about the approach you might be looking for, but I do know that I LOVE my daughter's pediatrician! We see Dr. Cornish at the Timpanogos branch of Utah Valley Pediatrics. We see him every visit, but its nice to be using a (large) group practice, becuase there is ALWAYS a doctor on call (until 10 pm every night I think, and every weekend and holiday). We didn't choose him ourselves intially... he was just the preditrician that happened to see our daughter in the hospital, but I absolutely loved him as a doctor.
I know that may not be excatly what you're looking for, but that is what I have to offer. =) Good luck in your search.

There is a GREAT Natropath(sp?) in North Provo - Dr. Wright. I have been there and taken my daughter. He does not take insurance so it can get pricy but if you are holding off on vax's, you would not really be going unless you had a problem. His office is in the Riverwoods. They also have their own homeopathic medicine that they make or sell there. Highly reccommend them.
