Relocating to San Antonio (Part 2)

I have two young girls and I always pick up the free publications at my local HEB, like SA Kids and the Welcome Home magazine.

I don't know of any free places to take toddlers except for parks/pools however, a good website to go to for rentals is www.mysanantonio.com. This is the site I used to find my rental when I moved here. I have a brother who lives here though and he helped a lot. He actually went and viewed the homes for me because you cannot tell what kind of neighborhood it is unless you see it yourself. He found a great neighborhood for me and my kids. Try the library that will be closest to you. I live out in Bulverde and our library provides two mornings of activites for toddlers, story time and family programs, both for free. Bulverde is probably 15 minutes from where you are talking about living...you probably could come out and join the fun, no idea how they would know you didn't live in Bulverde or if it even matters if you do. Open the SRP brochure (SRP means Summer Reading Program)and you will see what activities are planned on Wednesdays.

Welcome to San Antonio! You will love it. It was just voted Friendliest City in the US by MSN. Okay, MDO's....I send my son to Coker Methodist Church. He has been going there for almost 2 years. I also sent him to Shearer Hills Baptist church. I had a wonderful experience there and it cost less then Coker. The only reason I moved him to Coker was so he could be with his cousins. I also heard great things about St. Mark's on Thousand Oaks. All three of these MDO's are on Hwy 281 and easy to get to and from Stoneoak area. As far as things to do with your toddler, try http://sahp.meetup.com/53/. It is a meetup group for stay at home moms and dads. They always have toddler playdates as well as other activities. Not all activities are free but you get to pick and choose what you would like to do. Also, try www.alamomama.com and they have some ideas of what is going on in the city for you and your child. What ages are your children. I have a 3yr old dd and we moved here in Feb. I have had a hard time finding FREE things to do with DD, but there are many cost effective things. We each got season passes to Sea World. There is always something to do there. Stone Oak has a great little playscape and walking trail. It is not covered, so early morning or late evening is best for this. We are in an apartment complext in Stone Oak (Canyon Springs area) that has a playground and 2 pools. We decided to rent an apartment until we figured out where we wanted to be long term and I think this my be it for us. The apartment is fantastic. It's like being on vacation every day. We also love the Riverwalk. It is a bit of a drive, through.
