Seeking Nice Kid Friendly Neighborhoods with Good Schools.

I will be relocating to the McKinney area this summer. I would like suggestions on some neighborhoods that are family friendly with lots of young kids that feed into good schools.

What can I do next?

I would look in Plano in the Matthews Elementary Neighborhood. The boundary streets are north of Legacy, South of Hedgcoxe, West of Independence Pkwy., East of Coit Rd. It's a great neighborhood, with a wonderful elementary, then excellant middle, High School and Sr. High School feeder schools.

Hi C.,

I have lived in McKinney for 9 years now and have had children in the school system the entire time. We love our schools and our area so much that when we moved it was only 1 major street away in a different subdivision. We go to Bennett elem., Dowell for middle school and Boyd for high school.

I highly recommend the Eaglecreek and Greenbriar subdivisions with in Stonebridge ranch. From Greenbrair, it only takes 2 minutes walking to get to Bennett elem. and a big park and it's a 5 minute walk to one of our community pools. We love it!

Mom to mom, I would highly recommend Melissa Eason w/ Keller Williams. She has lived here even longer and it took us 2 years to find our perfect house (we're picky) and she stuck with us the entire time. We love her too!!! Her office number is ###-###-####.

Good luck & Blessings!

If you aren't set on McKinney and are willing to look slightly west of Plano, try Castle Hills. http://www.castlehills.com/ It is a very popular community with tons of kids and awesome schools. Our Public Elementary is in the center of our neighborhood and has an Exemplary rating. The Middle and High Schools have great reps also. There are also some very good private schools within a 10 minute drive. McKinney is nice, but I love this side of town. We are close to everything the DFW Metroplex has to offer, only 25 minutes from the airport and within 15 minutes of 3 great malls and tons of shopping. We are also just barely into Denton County rather than Collin County so our taxes are lower :) Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Welcome to the area. We moved from Florida also.

I live and teach in Anna which is 15 minutes north of McKinney on HWY 75. It is a small school district with a small hometown feel. There are several housing developments to choose from in Anna. We are growing but I still feel a closenss in our community. I'm active in our local church which has an AWESOME children's ministry and a growing Women's ministry. The kids have programs all day Sunday and AWANA's on Wednesday night for ages 3-5th grade. Our women's ministry just had a scrapbooking night and have a girl's night out tonight. Good luck with your move!

Hi C., Welcome to Texas. If you are looking for a neighborhood where your kids can walk to school, try Whiffletree (Legacy & Marchman). The houses are beautiful, large, have pools and the prices are incredible for what you get. Lots of mouldings, bathrooms and good size bedrooms. They are a better value than new homes in the area.

We live in the Liberty Subdivision in M., TX. It's a new subdivision with a brand new elementary school (opened this year). All of my friends with school-aged children LOVE the M. school system (especially compared with others). I believe that they're renovating the middle school right now to be open in the fall?!?!?!

Please let me know if you have more questions. As far as the neighborhood - We LOVE it! Lots of families with young kids and older kids too. Our neighbors are fantastic and everyone I've met from the neighborhood (out walking or at the pool etc.) is extremely friendly.

Hi C.,

Welcome to Texas!

McKinney or Plano are great cities to live in...low crime rate, clean, good schools, and kid friendly.

Let me know if you want me to send you any information on the cities, I'm in real-estate and have tons of information at my fingertips.

Check out the website: www.familywatchdog.us.

I would love an opportunity to help you find a home.

Best Wishes,
