Hello all,
I am currently looking for an OB-GYN in Allen and also recommendations for a great hospital to deliver.
I am very scared as the last time I was pregnant I had a miscarriage . . . I am still not over that. Also I just crossed 35 so it might be high risk pregnancy.
I am extra cautious in choosing a good caring OB and also a caring great hospital for child birth.
I am seeking your advise based on experience (good and bad)

Thank you all in advance.

My sister used Dr. Rajala also. He specializes in high risk pregnancys. He was on top of everything. The nurses at Allen Presby was really good with my sister and the baby. Good Luck!

I like my doctor, Dr. Bruce Rajala, but there are some downsides. He is always running late as he is a solo, and you may prefer a woman. What I like is that his office staff is wonderful and he is more of a moderation doctor. He doesn't really have you cut out any activity or food as long as you do it in moderation. Again, you may like someone a little more strict. I also like how he always seems calm. When I was having trouble during delivery, he politely excused himself to check on another patient. I didn't know he was booking the OR and seting up my c-section. He walked back in and as calm as can be said it was time for the c-section. At no time did he let me in on how serious the situation was and kept me calm. I delivered at Presby. Allen and had a great experience. The nurses were kind and always available. I did have problems with the lactation consultant, as she made me feel like a failure when I was having difficulties breastfeeding. However, there was this older german nurse who was wonderful with helping me breastfeed. I'm delivering there again in February. Also, their childbirth class was great, especially if you are interested in natural childbirth, and Allen has a delivery room designed for natural childbirth.

I delivered both of my children via c-section (I am/was advanced age...35 and 37) at Allen Presby. My boys are 6 and 4 now. My doctor was Ralph Joseph. Loved him, his staff. Loved the nurses at Allen Presby (which is now Texas Health Presby or something) both times after delivering my babies. I too did not like the lactation consultant. I had a little trouble remembering the latch-on and holding, etc., for breastfeeding my second child and she didn't seem to be patient enough for me; not a great bedside manner. Other than her, everyone/everything was a beautiful experience! Good luck!

My doctor isn't in Allen but maybe she has priveleges there so you may want to check. Her name is Dr. Jennifer Allen and she is with Frisco Obstetrics. She is located in Frisco, at the 121/Coit intersection, in one of the medical buildings attached to Centennial Medical Center. She was previously located in McKinney and delivered my 3rd child at Medical Center of McKinney. She was AWESOME! I was 38 years old and my prior delivery (8 years prior) was a c-section which I absolutely hated so I wanted to do a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section). She was very receptive, although she was clear that during delivery if things weren't progressing well then I could still wind up having a c-section (versus risking a ruptured uterus). But in the end everything went perfect. Afterwards I found out how few doctors are willing to do VBACs so I was even more thankful to have had her.
