Need a Great OB/GYN in N.Dallas,Plano or in That General Area

I just don't feel comfortable with my current OB/GYN we just don't "click". I like one of the partners in her practice (she actually delivered my first child b/c she happened to be on call when labor started), but can't switch due to the rules of the practice. I really need a personable physician that will talk to me and not make me feel like just another patient. I prefer a female ,but would consider a male as well.THanks so much I look forward to your replies.

What can I do next?

Hi S....I have the BEST ob/gyn ever! Dr Mark Bernstein, at Medical City Dallas...He's delivered both my babies and he's wonderful. There are three other Doctors in the practice, one is a woman, if you prefer a woman ob/gyn, her name is Camille Clark and she's awesome!

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Camille Clark at Medical City, and frankly I really liked every doctor in her practice. I had four pregnancies with her, two of which were successful, but were high risk multiple births. She is caring and understanding, and I was comfortable with every other doctor in her practice. She was also very caring and understanding with the two miscarriages, which happened in the second tri-mester. I have had other doctors that I did not feel that way about and I understand your need to change. Good luck.

Dr. Jennifer Allen at McKinney Medical Center is wonderful. Personable, open, and kind. If I was going to go back to an OBGYN (I've changed to a midwife), she would be one of the few that I'd choose. Woman to Woman with Dr. Graham is a fabulous group too, and they are at Baylor Dallas.

I love my OB/GYN Kristen Innes. I switched to her during the middle of my pregnancy b/c I didn't feel comfortable with the OB I had originally been with. I wasn't going to change b/c I thought it would be a big mess to switch mid- way but since this was my first & only pregnancy I wanted to feel comfortable & at ease. I was so so happy I did. Dr. Innes is very down to earth & made me feel very comfortable! www.drinnes.medem.com

She offices at Medical Center of Plano, but now does all deliveries at Plano Presby. Only two doctors in her practice - during pregnancy appts, you see the other Dr. (Sharma) only 1 time. But she is wonderful also. Both are very kind and caring. If you can't think of any questions for Dr. Walsh, she'll just sit and have small talk with you.... I have never felt like "just another patient" in her office.
Good Luck with your search.

I LOVE my OB/GYN. Her name is Dr. Tracy Speight and she offices in the Margot Perot building at Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Her number is ###-###-####. The other doctor there is also female but I cannot remember her name for the life of me right now. I saw her when my doctor was out on maternity leave, and she is really good, too. I also love the triage nurse, Marcella- you really can't go wrong with this entire office!

When I went to the hospital to get checked out (I was a month early, so I CERTAINLY wasn't about to deliver, right?) and things started going downhill, Dr. Speight, who was NOT on call, came running downstairs to perform the emergency c-section. Talk about service! She is awesome:)

Good luck!

I would advise checking out the hospitals too. Some hospitals are highly interventive for everyone who comes in, resulting in a high rate of c-sections. Others are much more flexable. Some take the baby away right away, and do lots of tests which are unnecessary in most cases. Dr. Downey at Richardson, Dr. Norwood, Dr. Romberg, or Lindsay Stephens (midwife in same practice is excellent. www.wha-docs.com. Best hospital for mother and baby? Baylor Dallas by far! Medical Center of Plano, I've heard the new Baylor hospital in Frisco and the McKinney hospital. Google to see what questions to ask potential doctors. The doctor & hospital makes a big difference in a good or bad experience in childbirth. Educate yourself and you will be fine. Note: sometimes male doctors are better because they have more time. Women have commitments at home and to children, which takes time and focus.

Dr Charles Downey ###-###-####)is one of my favs delivering at Richardson Regional. He is very mindful of the wishes of the birthing parents and is collaborative OB for 2 midwives at a Rishcardson birth center. You will have a very good chance of achieving hte birth you want with him without the fight it sometimes takes with other OB's.

At Baylor Downtown Dr.s Graham & Lawson are also some of my favorites. Women to Women at ###-###-####. Baylor is also one of my favorite hospitals to doula at. They will do everything in their power to help you achieve the birth you want. Some of THE BEST nurses in DFW!!! I have never had a bad brth experience there.

Also at Baylor Dallas is Nurse Midwife Lyndsay Stephens ( Susan Akins recently moved on to New MExico and We miss her!) ###-###-#### Her and the other midiwfe( Whom I dont know) Jane Singer practice in collaboration with 8 OB's. Dr, Kurian I had a great experience with last year with a 19 year old client that fired her OB 5 days before the baby was borna nd she did the delivery as the oncall doc!

Good luck!

Hi S..

I know you said you prefer a female OB/GYN but I would HIGHLY recommend my doctor, Gary Duncan. He is in Plano at Coit and 15th. He is WONDERFUL and I can not say enough good things about him. I have referred several friends to him (some who swore they only wanted a woman doctor) and every single one of them has thanked me profusely. I have three kiddos (all delivered with him) and thoroughly enjoyed all three of my pregnancies and the care I received before, during and after each of them with him. He is warm and caring and very calm. You feel completely at ease with him and like you are the only patient he has when you are with him.

His number is ###-###-#### if you'd like to meet him. Good luck to you. I know "shopping" for an OB/GYN isn't the most fun. :-) S.

Hi there. I have a great OB/GYN, her name is Dr. Lisa Remedios. She is at Presbyterian Dallas off of 75 and Walnut Hill. I have not used her for OB, but for GYN and she is the best doctor I have had yet. She is never in a rush to get you in and out, she always takes time to sit and talk with you to see how you are doing physically and mentally. She was not in the office one day so I have also seen Dr. Angela Angel. She is super nice also. The practice's website is http://www.whsdallas.com/.

I love my Dr.! Dr. David Fong in Plano. He practices out of the Medical Center of Plano and, I beleive, he is the chief of Obstetrics there. He's very personable. He cared for me through my pregnancy and delivered my daughter. What I really liked too is that he beleives in letting nature take it's course and not scheduling C sections just b/c they're convienent, like so many other Drs around here. I've been going to him since I moved to Texas almost eight years ago and I've never felt like I was just another patient or number. I've reccomended him to several people and no one has ever been disappointed.

PM me for his number. and thanks for reminding me that I'm due for my annual! :-)

Dr. Katrina Walsh, 1600 Coit Rd Ste 402, ###-###-####. She may be in the process of moving her practice to Presby Plano...this is where she did my last surgery. She is wonderful. About in her mid to late 40's. She didn't deliver my children only because we moved to Allen from Dallas and had to change due to insurance purposes.

I went to a female OB/GYN before also and wasn't sure how I'd feel having a male OB/GYN. I have been going to Dr. Garrett Garner for about 7 years now and love him. He's delivered 2 of my 3 kids. He has a superb bedside manner, very supportive and informative. He takes the time to talk with you and if you have questions he'll take the time to answer them. My husband thinks he's a hoot too. There are 3 other doctors in the practice...1 other male (Dr. Powers) and 2 women (Dr. Campbell and Dr. Denning). All are great choices, but I definitely would recommend Dr. Garner. Oh, and I've had nothing but great experiences with Presby Plano (which is where he has privileges-along w/ Med. City Dallas). Good luck!
