Mckinney Medical Center

I am new to the area and am due to deliver my third child soon. I was planning on going to Mckinney Med.Center but just recently I have heard some not so good things about the place. I have heard that Allen Hospital is much better. Has anyone delivered at Mckinney that had a bad experience. I don't know if I should switch to Allen or not.

What can I do next?

I have not had a good experience at that hospital. Infact it was quite bad! I have had good experiences at Plano Medical center.

Hi N., I can't answer about their Labor and Delivery but my ex hubby's wife and daughter were taken to McKinney Med. Center ER. The next day they both told me never to go there that they were just awful. Administration lost paperwork which caused hours of delays all the way to terrible problems with the doctors and nurses. We have all been to Centennial Med. Center ER many times in Frisco and have had excellent care every single time. All the best to you and your new little one to be.

I didn't have my son at mckinney but my step father had a surgery there and had to go back for a second surgery because they didn't fix him the first time. He almost died and they got it right the second time. I had my child a Presbyterian in Plano and I had a wonderful experience..

I have heard lots of good things about McKinney and am due to deliver my baby there in January. My Dr loves that hospital. Dr halderman if you need an awesome Dr, too.

I have also heard not such wonderful things regarding this hospital. I would consider looking elsewhere.

I delivered at Presby Allen. It was okay. My son was admitted to McKinney Med Ctr it was okay. Having been mis-diagnosed before by a doctor, put things in perspective for me as far as now I realize that doctors, nurses, hospitals etc.... don't know everything I gave them credit for knowing.
Have you toured the hospital's L&D wards?
As long as you have a good doctor and have open communication with him/her I think you will have a pleasant experiernce at either place. That being said I have heard the McKinney hospital was bad. That is all I heard, I have no idea why? I know they have had two shootings in the parking lot in the last 5 years. Maybe that is where a bunch of the "bad" comes from?! Not sure. Good luck in your decision.

I delivered there in February and had a great experience. The nurses were very attentive, even with the rush of babies delivered that day. There is a lactation consultant and she was SO helpful, even knowing this was my second child. I do not have any complaints---they even encouraged me to stay another night so I could get good rest before going home to my then 14 month old. I had had a hard time sleeping due to a reaction to some medication (I had a c-section although they supported a VBAC if wanted, however my deliveries were SO close I choice not to) so the nurses felt I could use one more night. Gave me a sleeping pill to ensure I slept before going home. I thought it was very thoughtful and unlike what you normally hear. I had heard mixed reviews as well, however I think the negative info is due to two things:
1. the reputation of the old hospital
2. the ER seems to be busier than Allen

Good luck, if you need more details...let me know. We battled with this decision due to the mixed inputs, but we're very pleased with every aspect of the service.

I can't directly speak to the service at McKinney, but I delivered at Allen Presby and I had a great experience. The staff was friendly, it was clean, and every need I had was met. I would definitely look into this further as you want to have the best experience possible. (By the way, I chose Allen Presby because I, too, heard some not so good things about McKinney!)
