Reciprocal Birthday Gift

Hi Mamas! I finally created a new account so I could ask questions again. My old one was being totally wacky.
Here's my question--Is it ok to give a friend the same gift she gave you so that you can do the activity together?
My friend just got me a mani/pedi for my birthday. Her birthday is the day after mine, so I need to get her something too. And, I thought maybe I could get her a mani/pedi at the same place so we could go together because it's a lot more fun that way. And with the kids, we hardly ever have a chance to just sit and talk.
So, is that weird or tacky, or would you like it?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks! I really appreciate your answers. I think that's what I'll do then. She is a mani/pedi type, so it'll be perfect!

Get in touch with her and ask. While you have the best intentions, it might seem as though you were thoughtlessly re-gifting her gift certificate back to her. Aslo, some people prefer to do these things alone (embarrased by their feet, don't really want to have girl talk in a salon, etc). Ask.

Best,

welcome back! Sorry you had to open a new account.

I would reach out to her and say - I LOVE the mani/pedi you bought me for my birthday - and I would LOVE to spend the day with you for your birthday and get a mani/pedi for you - do you have the time for that?

If she says - YES! Schedule the date!

If not? Find out what would be something she really wanted or needed and do it.

Hope this helps!

That is really sweet. So long as she is also the mani/pedi type, go for it. If she isn't, then think of something else you can do together.

I think that it's a good idea, but you should also spring for lunch or drinks or something, immediately preceding or proceeding the appointment. At least offer. Since it was her original idea, you should add to it, so it's not like you're just stealing her idea. (Maybe the idea was more sentimental for her?) Maybe you can bring a bottle of wine to share while you get your nails done.
