Hello Ladies,

I have a friend who is pregnant with IC. She is in alot of pain and very uncofortable. I am wondering if there were any other moms out there that have this and is there anything that will ease the pain.

What can I do next?

You are sweet to help yourfriend like this. I am constantly reading about inflammatory conditions. I came across this a while back and found it interesting. It discussed hormone allergy as a possible cause if IC.

This is another link on that site which discuss hormone allergy in more detail:

She may want to consider finding out which foods cause inflammation for her as well. Many people have had good results this way. Gluten (found in weat, barley and rye), dairy and soy are allergenic for some people and could be the culprits.

I wish your friend a helathy pregnancy.

Hi there,
Here's a great link:

Oh wow, I had it from 4 months on, and I was bed-bound, so I just lay there thinking about how much my bladder hurt. I went to the bathroom every 30-40 minutes at one point, and all night long, too. Yes, it is rough, and I feel soooo much for her. There are trigger foods to avoid, definitely-that is largely individual. I feel so much for your friend, but the only thing that helped me was accupuncture, and massage (make sure they know what they are doing) mainly to take my mind off the pain and relax all the muscles in there. Just assure her that 24 hours after she delivers, she will not feel that sting, sting, throb anymore!! Looks like you have some good links to give her-there are IC forums for pregnant women. Mostly they offer emotional support because there are not many safe meds. I wish her the best.

Hi Emily,

I really feel for your friend. I too have IC, however, I am not pregnant. One thing that worked well for my worst times was a bladder treatment performed in my Urologist's office. The NP would cath. me and insert a bladder cocktail that I would leave in for 30 minutes. (It made me smell of garlic for days) Don't know if it is safe for baby but worth her asking her Urologist and OB. Best of luck for her...

Dear Emily,
I have included a link about IC that you may find helpful. I read several other things that say there is no harm to the baby because of this. So, that's wonderful news.
Just google IC during pregnancy and all kinds of info pops of from diet to exercise.
I wish your friend well!
