Seeking Advice with Pelvic Pain
My symtoms started out with a very overactive bladder, so I didn't do anything for about four weeks. I'm at SAHM so I always put my needs last. Then I started to have pelvic pain, then I knew I had to see the Dr, I went in hoping it would just be a yeast infection, but instead they diagnoised it as cystoceil (bladder moving down). I was in shock, so I went to see a urologist, and well he says it's not. My symtoms are pressure in the vaginia like if I were in my last days of pregnancy, pelvic pain. If any of you wonderful moms have had any symtoms like these I would like to know what you did or what the Dr recommended for you. Thank you

Go see your doc again. Have him check for vaginal infections like gardinerella (not basic yeast)...that causes pretty severe abdominal pain and inflamation of the uterus. Also have them do bloodwork. This will rule out the chance of cancer of the stomach, uterus, bladder and cervix and you absolutely want to rule that out right away. Go see your GYN if you have been seeing a general practitioner too and vice versa...different docs are trained to look at things different ways. Good luck and let us know!

FIrst, bone up on Kegals. I had to have my doc check to see if I was doing it right, and it turns out I wasn't - so now I do those, instead of the pushing the 'helped' prolapse my uterus and bladder. Talk with the first doc again, and he feels you are a candidate have him hook you up with a surgeon who will implant a rubber ring that 'holds' it up for you to take the weight off untill your muscles can get stron genough.

I have the same issues and it is very frustrating. Right now, I use a Oxytrol patch. For a couple of days I don't have any issues, then have to put on a new patch. Dr. said it is ok to use for the rest of my life if I have to.
Have tried kegal therapy, multiple medications, no caffiene or alcohol, using summers eve wash, everything! My urologist even suggested I see a nurologist because he thinks it might be a pinched nerve! I go to a chiropractor twice a month just in case!
Anyway, if you find anything different than what has been suggested, please let us know.
Thanks and best of luck!

Hi A., Do you notice your pain after having any citric fruits or drinks? Do you have alot of bladder problems that seem like a UTI? I think you could probably have IC. You may want to talk to your Urologist or Gyn. I am a Medical Assistant with Women's Health Associates in Round Rock. Pelvic Pain can be misdiagnosed only because there is such a wide arrange of female problems we go through. Hope this could help. Look up IC online and see if you have most of the symptoms.

I don't have advice for you. But, I have the same sensation. I first noticed it during my entire 3rd pregnancy. I complained often in the 1st trimester that something was wrong. It was a tremendous pressure on my pelvis. The doctor could not find anything wrong with me. It continued, of course, throughout the pregnancy. Now, 2 years after my son's birth, I still have the pressure. Most of the time, it's bearable, but uncomfortable. I've always assumed it is just the affects of having children. I hope you find an answer that satisfies your concern.

My daughter has a condition called interstititial cystitis. I am not sure that I have spelled it correctly, however, she is 25 years old and has had this since she was 19. It started with a bladder infection that she did not address and turned into this condition that has been difficult to deal with. It is a condition which involves the thinning and ulceration of the bladder lining (I think). She had urgency and frequency problems and bladder pain. The literature describes the pain as being like broken glass in the bladder, but her problems have eased up considerably. She took elmeron for about 2 years and also Detrol-LA until a few months ago. She did some exercises for the strengthening of the pelvic floor which might be helpful to you. Other ,natural things that have helped her are aloe vera pills-not the liquid, vitamin c, vitamin E, quercitin. What has your doctor recommended for you to try? Does he want to do surgery? Has he recommended any medications? More info would be helpful in giving you more suggestions. Are you happy with your urologist? My daughter goes to Dr. Singh. Also, acupuncture can help. Dr. Guoen Wong is the best acupunturist in Austin. I do want to help since I have been dealing with a similar problem with my daughter for some time. Let me know how you are doing. J. K.

Please, please, please fine a urologist who knows how to diagnose interstitial cystitis. It is a chronic inflamation of the bladder, and it feels a lot like a urinary tract infection. One of the symptoms is pelvic pain that feels like an electricity shooting up from under your pubis.
I went three years with what you are describing before I found an article on IC, quite by accident. If I hadn't found that article, I doubt I ever would have been diagnosed.
Please check out this website:
It is the official web page for the interstitial cystitis association.
Currently, I take 250 mg of hydroxyzine (which is an antihistamine musch like benadryl), and it is the ONLY think that helps my vulvar pain, as well as the constant urge to pee.
Please know that there are very successful treatments, even though IC is a chronic condition. You don't have to feel awful all the time!!!!!
Best of luck!
-C.

Push forward until you are satisfied with the diagnosis and treatment. You have to sometimes push the doctors to look deeper. They rule out all the common things & then they have to take a deeper look. Make them look.
I know. They spent 3 weeks telling me I had migrains when I had a bleeding brain anyurism & was DYING. I was working, walking & talking and shouldn't have been so they misdiagnosed me.
Push them to look for what isn't obvious.
