Hi moms. I'm wondering how long it took to get pregnant with #2 after having an IUD removed? I'd like to get pregnant in the summer and can't decided when to have my IUD removed.

We got pregnant the first time we tried after Mirena was removed, which was 1 month later. I did a detox beforehand.

my friend had her IUD in twice (after her first and second baby) both times she got pregnant right after getting it removed. The doctor had said that she should get a period in a month or two after having it out and then she should be able to get pregnant. both times she never even had a period. it had be 3 months so she went to the doc. to see what was up and she was 3 months pregnant.

I also had the 10-year hormone free-version so once it was out, my body was ready to go! We were fortunate and got pregnant very quickly-
Good luck!

It took me 3 months to get pregnant with #2 after removing my IUD. I had my IUD in for over 4 years. It took 2 months for my cycle to come back and regulate and I got pregnant the next month. I would remove it now to give your body time to adjust if you want to conceive this summer. Good luck.

i had paraguard no horomones. it took me 8 months. but i was also 37 and my husband traveled 3 months in a row during the week i really needed him. My doc advised waiting 2 months before getting pregnant for the linning to restore itself. i would say get it out now and go with barrier methods for a couple of months. What does your ob advise?

I had 2 kids, got the Mirena IUD, had it for almost 3 years. Planned for baby #3, took it out April 16th and the dr says I got prego with #3 on April 19th! So, it only took me 3 days!

My Dr recommended waiting to get 1 period before trying but we should be okay if we didnt. I had mine removed in May but didn't want to get pregnant right away so we started trying in August and I ended up pregnant in September. Good Luck!!!

I personally was always told to wait 1 year after any birth control simply because your system needs to get back into check before doing something as traumatizing as pregnancy. Regulating your system is good and you can time it right instead of frustrating yourself trying to get it done. I had my first child concieved 1 year after the pill.

I had the Mirena IUD for just under 2 years. I had it removed December 05 and did not get pregnant (despite actively trying, temping, charting, etc) until October 07. I got pregnant right away with #1 and then shortly after #2 was born I got pregnant again (not exactly planned!). Because it was so easy to get pregnant the other 2 times I am fully convinced it was because of the IUD that I had trouble conceiving baby #2.
