Potty Chair Types

Ours had a slight back and sides to it, which worked fine for our daughter. Our son was a "husky" boy at that age so he had to sit on a regular potty with the insert for children. My daughter at one point starting preferring the insert over the chair too.

If money is an issue (when is it not these days), I would invest in a good insert for the adult potty. Less mess to clean up :0)

My daughter uses a basic cheap Target brand toilet with no bells or whistles. As I thought they would become a distraction and a toy when she had to go potty. So I went to target and bought her a basic chair and you just take out the insert after she pees or poops and then flush it down the toilet and rinse and air dry. Works perfect. My nephew who is about 6 months older than my daughter has the fancy toilet and he doesnt use it atll. So save your money and go cheap!!! good luck!!A.

Baby Bjorn hands down! It simple and very comfortable for them to sit on. Sorry but Europeans seems to always keep comfort and simplicity in mind when they design. Totco - it's just like your potty only smaller! We loved it. The only noise it makes is a swishing sound when you "fush" the commode. The only problem I had was getting my daughter to use the real potty once she was potty trained - she loved her little potty.

Hi J T. I have a 3 month old daughter who will never see a potty chair. I used one with my son (who is now 11 yrs) and my dauhter (who is now 4). I learned the hard way that buying fancy little potty chairs turn into toys and potty training goes out the window. The one my 4 yr old had was the one that played music every time she peed in it. SHe figured out VERY quickley how she could just throw other little toys in the potty (gross) and the music would start to play. I had a really hard time using them, but I am sure most people are sucsessful using them. This is just something to be aware of in picking out which one you want to use. All kids are so different, but this time around I am going to get a little stool for her to step up on and get the topper for the regular toilet. I hope this helps and good luck!!

Since my daughter considered herself to be a "big girl" she wanted to use the "big girl" potty. She was afraid of falling in, so my dad brought her a seat that fit on the big potty. She never had any trouble using the potty after this.

I had the same question, so I'm glad to see these responses. Since I first bought one without doing any research (which is SO unlike me, and now I know why), I can offer that the Safety 1st brand is not that great. The lid does not stay upright as a back, and for my little boy who is pretty tall, he can't get his "business" under the small cup part very comfortably...which pretty much defeats the purpose of it! It does convert to a cover for the regular toilet which I thought would be cool, but with the cup issue, I'm not sure it will work for that either. The price was right (around $16), but I wish I had that $16 back to apply to a new chair. I plan on getting the Bjorn one now, which is still priced well at about $25.
