Potty training--what fun! just kidding : )
But really, a good potty will help make things easier. It's been several years since we bought ours, so I can't give a specific recommendation, but I can tell you a couple things to look for...
For instance, many of the potties double as a step stool. That feature was not useful at all for us, since you have to clean out the potty before moving it to the sink to use as a stool, and I wanted to get my child finished and out of the bathroom before tackling clean-up. A stool is not a bad feature, but I'd venture that you probably won't use it. So don't be put off by the non-stool kind. (Did that make sense?) We got a separate small stool to keep by the sink.
Also, look for one that's easy to pick up and clean all over. We had the kind where you can lift up the seat ring and use it on the big toilet. Then there was the "catching bowl" which I'd have to lift out and dump (and it takes more cleaning after a poop...). And you'd be surprised how the pee sometimes seeped under the ring and bowl and I'd have to occasionally pick up the entire chair to clean underneath. I think our was by First Years(?) and it only had 4 pieces--the ring, bowl, main body, and lid.
So I would suggest not worrying about all the bells and whistles of the fancy potties, and find something that fits in your bathroom leaving room for a separate stool, that doesn't have too many pieces to clean, and that's light enough to maneuver for cleaning.
By the way, I love your line about "using the word POTTY!" It's so funny how our caual topics of conversation change now that we're moms. (Here I am talking about peeing and pooping....can't do that around my non-mom friends...)
Good luck with the potty training!
