Has anyone used any post baby belly support. Most of my 30 lbs is gained around my belly -- i am very pointy! So, i was wondering if these belly supports work with regular deliveries (not c-sections) and do they really help shrink the mid section faster?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I purchased a post-partum belly support 3 days after delivery -- so far, it has worked well for me. This was my 2nd pregnancy. It offers me more back support since I had more back and pelvis issues/pain during pregnancy.

I gained quite a bit (65lbs) due to pre-eclampsia during my pregnancy. I bought two of the supports (one to use to shrink my hips LOL) and I faithfully used them from the day after he was born (I was stuck in bed till then) until about 5 weeks post, and unfortuantly it hasn't done much. I'm only like 13 lbs away from pre-preg weight, but my belly is still pretty swollen and big :(

I have a 10 week old and before I delivered I bought the Brooke Burke "Tauts" belly band. It took me about a week to be able to fit in it (though I had called customer service prior to ordering to be sure I had the right size) when I did wear it it can be very uncomfortable (esp when nursing) it kept riding up, looked obvious under clothes and it made me bleed more. (I think from the tightness) I was so disappointed I feel I wasted the $60 I spent. Its worth a try, but dont expect a miracle-be sure it fits you good. While wearing it for several days it made it look like my belly had shrunk a bit, but I think its just appearance because your belly is compressed. Check out shapewear-that helps too! Good Luck!

YES YES YES! I used one (post c-section) and it made sooo much difference my belly went down inches per day. It helped with support (which is why I got it) but to my shock it helped me to get back into clothes that didn't fit and also helped to smooth out the lumps.....I think it helped my skin shrink back too I have little loose skin even with rapid weight loss

Most of the weight we gain in pregnancy is not just around the belly, though it sure looks like it, right? : ) The weight is distributed with extra water, extra blood, the baby, the amniotic fluid and of course the extra padding (a.k.a. "fat" )we store all over our precious frame. My sister had a natural delivery and used this belly band you are referring to. She swears it helped her belly "shrink" but no one knows for sure. It was her first pregnancy so she did bounce back fairly quickly but she was very physically fit prior to pregnancy so I tend to believe that being fit before pregnancy has a lot to do with how our bodies "bounce back" after having a baby. Now, I am pregnant with my 4 child and all my other pregnancies resulted in c-sections so no belly band for me but I also was very physically fit/active prior to pregnancy and I can tell you from my own personal experiences that I bounced back fairly quick as well. Keep in mind that the skin and muscles stretches and never fully recovers but the uterus does recover and shrink back down to it's pre pregnancy size, with or without the use of a belly band. I know, because I've only had c-sections and my uterus was fine but the skin and muscles, I'm sorry to say, no band will improve the tone or elasticity of the skin or muscles. When you get the okay from your doctor, you can begin exercising your abs and building them strong again.
