Photographer Request

Does anyone know what happened to "My Photographer" in Westland? I was planning on getting my daughter's 2yr pictures done there and when I called the number I got a recording saying the number cannot accept calls at this time. We don't want to take her back to JC Penney because we haven't been that happy with them and was soooo looking forward to My Photographer. Does anyone have suggestions for another portrait studio? We live in the Belleville area. Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you all for your speedy responses. I was bummed to read that My Photographer has closed :( I am going to make an appointment at Clix tomorrow....besides they are really close to us so that is a bonus! Thank you again, I knew I could count on mamasource moms!

Portrait Innovations does a wonderful job with the kids!
There is one on Haggerty at 8 mile I believe and one in the new green oak shopping center.

One last one!!! My niece is a fabulous photographer in Belleville!! Her name is Robin and she has her own business called Once Upon a Memory Photography. She comes to your house, or wherever you want and photographs. Her website is www.onceuponamemoryphotography.com
She was near the top (I think #11 or so out of over 200) in the Vote For The Best that channel 4 did. Please check her out, I promise you'll love her work!

Unfortunately they were victim to the Economy. I happened to be in the Westland store late December to pick up my Daughter's Sr pictures we had done there. By the way they did a great job. They told me the next day was their last, closing due to the economy. They were in business for 26 years. It was a sad day. I took my daughter there for the first 6-7 years & then Sr pictures. I was very sad to see the close.

We (my mom's group) was just talking about this last month - here's our latest bit of recommendation:

Just an FYI to all the former My Photograper fans ....

I ended up tring out Clix for Jacks 3 month pictures, I LOVE them. They really did a great job, the pictures came out good and their prices are comparable to My Photographer. I think I almost like them better then My Photographer. I went on Sat morn and was the first one in so I obviously didn't wait, but I have been in there a couple times randomly though the day and have never seen a long waiting line. There is one camera and it seems like they are pretty organized. I know a few people recommended Portrait Innovations but I also heard sometimes it is crazy there and you have to wait, I just couldn't take 4 kids into a place where I would have to wait for an hour ! So anyways if there are other former My Photographer fans Clix is definitly worth tring.

- Feb 24, 2009 Edit | Delete | Viewers | Reply to this item We also just used CLIX a few weeks ago for the kids 3 year pictures. We really liked them too. They were all great with the kids. The kids were not so great for group shots this time, but hey, they're 3. :-) For year one and two we went to Sears Westland and had no problems. For a change I was going to try My Photographer but read your post that they closed. CLIX did the kids photos at Goddard School and helped me out with some fixes on those photos so I decided to try them again. We were pleased again.

We also went on a Saturday. I think we were the second appt. and had to wait just a bit but they have a large waiting area with toys and Dora on the TV so it was just fine. They are closed Sun, Mon & Wed so we didn't get our prints until Thurs but that was still quick I thought. I think they can print the same day, but we used our points earned from the sheets we bought to have a special photo put together and that took the extra time.

I'm sure we got these too, but with our photos we got a little business card that lets a referred person get a free sheet with the purchase of 3 (I think). Let me know if anyone needs one!!

- Feb 25, 2009 Edit | Delete | Viewers | Reply to this item Hey -- they did all the school portraits for All Saints this year, and they came out GREAT! At first I was annoyed that they were switching photograpers, but I ended up being really glad. They look much better this year than the typical "school picture" :)

Unfortunately all of the "My Photographers" closed about a month or so ago due to the economy. I am so bummed because I really liked their photographs. There is a place called Portrait Innovations that my friend took her daughter to that they turned out really good. There is one in Livonia & one in Brighton.

There is a girl at my friends work that does photography. She has taken my friends daughter pics and took my daughters Christmas pictures and did a really good job. She can go on site and she's really nice. Her web address is http://clicketyclickphotography.com/

Kiddie Kandids at Babies R Us in Northville does a great job. They offer alot of extras for free.

Sears has pretty reasonable prices and does a good job..
Whatever you do......DON'T go to Olan Mills! They are awful! Total rip off!!
I think I want to try the Clix that others are talking about :)
I've been to kiddie kandids also and I liked it , and a plus getting pics same day :)

My daughter is a photography student and was awarded a scholarship for her photography at College of Creative Studies. If you would like to try her, she would be willing to take pictures for you on location, (your home or a park..). If you would like to talk to her about it, let me know.

I agree...Kiddie Kandids does a good job. And, I've heard good things about Clix. There is one in Canton.
