I recently noticed that a photograph has become stuck to the glass in a picture frame. I have had this happen in the past and don't know what causes it. Perhaps moisture somehow gets in there, causing the photo to stick to the glass. Regardless of how it happens, does anyone have any idea of how to "unstick" the photo without ruining it?

If it is an older photo, you are in luck. Silver prints, b/w or color can be soaked off because they are made with water and you just have to squeegie off, let air dry and place between two pieces of plain cardboard, and press flat with a steam iron. Otherwise, computer prints, soak off and print another one. Good luck.
Undo-it. It is made for lifting pictures out of the old sticky photo books. At Scrapbooking places.
Go to the scrapbooking section of Hobby Lobby. There is a product on the market called "Un-Do" it will safely lift the photos without damage. And since it is a scrapbooking product it will not harm the photos surface in any way. It will seem a little filmy but that does go away.
Un-do also has many many other uses so it is great to have in the house.

Try sticking it in the freezer for a while. It should pop right off. If not you can find a photo save remover at Michaels...can't remember the name. It will be in the scrapbooking section. You can squirt it on and gently peel or scrape the photo off.
Try using some dental floss between the photo and frame. If it looks like it's not going to come loose, then go with the Undo. To prevent this in the future, use a mat between the photo and frame; it will give just enough room to prevent the sticking.
Never heard of undo it, but that sounds awesome. Glad to have read that, as I have a couple old pictures of my deceased grandma that are stuck to glass.
I spoke with someone from Michaels about the problem (to prevent it from happening again) and they said it could be a number of things (heat, humidity, whatever) but that if you buy frames with a little foam or mat to prevent the photo from touching the glass it will keep that from happening.
C., I think it does have a bit to do with moisture as well as the chemicals/inks that make up the image in your photograph.
Honestly, if it is a really important photograph, I'd try going to Ritz or Wolf camera to see if they have any ideas or I'd try to find a photo restoration service that might be able to help. I googled a bit and it looks like the pro's use chemicals and soaking methods, that looks a bit beyond home use for good results.

Try putting it in the freezer for a while,. It works with candle wax.

This happened to one of my pictures, too. I don't think there is anything you can do. I have accepted the fact that my picture will be stuck to the glass forever. Just leave it in the glass and always keep it that way

I heard this tip once and thought it was a good idea although I've never tried it. You could take the photo and the glass it's stuck to out of the frame then scan the photo on a scanner. After scanning print your photo from the scanned image.

Put the frame in a zip-lock bag and put in the freezer for about 24 hours. When you take it out, you should be able to take it apart.
Can you scan it while still on the glass before you attempt to remove it?
