Ideas for Baby's Footprints

Hi, ladies. I was wondering if anyone had any easy yet creative ideas for baby's footprints. I didn't really want to deal w/ the kits or the photo cropping, etc. I know that at my hospital they will stamp whatever you want w/ the prints so i was thinking for us and the grandparents, having like a piece of nice paper or fabric stamped and then framed? But then i had to think about how to label it, handprinting the info, etc. I do not have one creative bone in my body so if anyone has any BASIC ideas, i'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot

What can I do next?

Just an idea (from another not too creative soul LOL). If you can get a clear impression, black and white, you can take it to "Things Remembered" at the Avenues, and they will transfer it into glass! There are also places on line that will do the same. This is a forever kind of keepsake.

You can probably buy a fancy print paper at Staples, Office Depot etc, use a computer and type with a nice font what you want on it, then have that paper stamped at the hospital and then laminate and/or frame it as you wanted.

You could buy a pair of small round frames to put them in. Look for some that are white and paintable. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Then have a handprint put on a piece of cardstock for one and a footprint put on cardstock for the other. You can paint the frames to match baby's room (or even make it polka-dot or stripes if you want and feel "creative enough" lol) and then using a paint-pen, write baby's name and birth information around the rims of the frame (not on the paper). You would be able to change the frames they are in (or repaint later) if you wanted to. If you make any mistakes, get more frames... the card-stock with the prints will be untouched, so no worries!

you can put the footprints on cotton shirts as soon as the baby is born.
or get a picture frame that hold two pictures. you can buy a cute one with a baby theme or go to michaels and hot glue little baby items to the frame. one side can have the footprints on a piece of paper and the other side a picture of the person holding the baby. you can make one for everyone.
we just have the footprints framed on a piece of paper with the name, birthday and weight and height from the day our babies were born.
for mother's day my husband used a kit and put both my 3 year old and baby handprint on it. it is the cutest thing and i cried when i recieved it.

Jaymi,
This isnt the most creative idea. But I have this for my first son & plan on doing the same for my second. If the link doesnt work, it's called Carter's boy or girl hand/foot print kit. They hang on the wall. I think they're cute. I've seen them at Target & Babies R Us.

What about going to a paper store or Michaels and get some paper that has a really nice or babyish border around it - then using your computer you can print (using really cool font or WordArt) all the birth information and then frame that with the foot print on it. The nice thing about paper is that you can put the foot print on it and then after the birth, still put it through the printer with the birth info on it.
I am not very creative either, so that is the most I could come up with.

Good Day,
I am a member of American Greetings.com and they have many wonderful tools that you can use to create what you want! It is also a great site for create & print and e-mail cards ect... The cost is low and you can create a back ground of your choice! You can scan a copy of the foot prints and then add them to a glossy page you create! You can type in the information you want to be shown! It really is a very great site! Good luck and God bless you all...
Sincerely

PS: Most dollar stores sell Picture paper for these kinds of projects! Even the pre-folded paper for cards!

ok, this is a bit more in depth than just a paper print, but it's something my dad started for the grandkids and we're so happy he did. he got a cheap basic stepping stone from home depot (just a concrete square or circle), then spread a thin layer of wet cement on it. then we sprayed the baby's feet with cooking oil (so it wouldnt stick to sensitive skin) and stuck their little footprints into the cement. then we used a screwdriver to scratch in their name and the date. we've repeated the process every year to make a little stepping stone path that shows their growth too (i think i'll go up to 5). this is better than doing it into cement around your house because you can take these with you if you move. super cute & the grandparents all love them :)

Jaymi, One nice idea is to get some 100% cotton white/cream material. Cut it about 15" square. You can then use a fine tip permanent marker and neatly write in the baby's name, date of birth, etc. OR... Some easy ideas are to then trim it down to put in a quilt or pillow. Easier things would be to trim it down and frame it in a picture frame. Since you started with a large piece of fabric, it will give you more options on trimming size. You could also get a picture frame that has many openings and put the footprints in one spot, baby pictures in a few more, and you can neatly type or letter the baby's info for another opening in the frame....very easy and cheap, too.
Best wishes with your new bundle of joy! Sandi
