Pediatrician in Wylie/Plano Area.

This has probably been asked before by others, however I will ask it with our needs in mind.

We need some recommendations for a pediatrician, with these things in mind.

Close to Wylie, Murphy, Plano, Allen.

Would be a plus, but not a necessity if they had privileges at Plano Medical Center.

Is available and actually explains things in simple terms.
(Other words, not one that comes in for thirty seconds and says take this or do this and call if anything changes and then takes off out the door.)

One that does not get in a hurry to over treat something minor, but at the same time will be aggressive if something was serious.

One that will explain different medicines and vaccines and the pros and cons of each.

Would prefer one that has a well waiting room separate from a sick waiting room.

All in all, one with a pleasant personality.

Thanks for the information.

What can I do next?

Dr. Monica Herrera Windhaven Pediatrics. She has privileges at Plano Presby, not Plano Medical. She is great...we've been with her for 3 years.

I love Dr. Carla Cole in north Garland and now she has an after hours clinic that works evenings and sundays! ###-###-####

I have the perfect Pediatrician for you! Dr. Scott Katz ###-###-####) at Plano Pediatrics. He is wonderful and is more than willing to answer (and even appreciates) any questions you may have. His office is connected to Medical Center in Plano (across the glass bridge that crosses Coit).

As a first time mom (5 years ago), he has walked me through all of the stages of my little girls first years. He is pleasant, mild-mannered and Madison isn't afraid of him at all.

His office is very thorough in their annual check-up evaluations and wonderful when it comes to handling sick little ones. They have separate Well Vist and Sick Visit waiting rooms with televisions to keep the kids occupied until it's their turn to be seen.

They also have an after-hours location at Legacy and Independence in Plano (Pediatrics After Hours...www.pediafterhours.com) that has been a God-send on the weekends and late at night. They have nurses on-call after hours, as well, that are more than willing to answer any questions and calm your fears.

I really think you will be pleased with him.

Good luck in your search!

We love Dr. Scott Katz at Plano Pediatrics. I'm a bit of a nuerotic mom = ) and he is very patient, explaining things and talking to me about the treatments for my boys. He also listens to mom's instinct, not just brushing off my thoughts or ideas. Our oldest is almost six and we've been with him since birth. On a side note, our boys are both adopted and Dr. Katz has always been great with that, taking into special consideration issues which involve the birth families medical history, which we have very little of. Also have a friend who's daughter has Down's Syndrome and he does great with that. All in all, a very sensitive, but proactive, doctor! Also has privleges at Plano Medical Center. He's in the doctor's building next door.

Good luck!!

I second Dr. Katz or Dr. McDonald in the same office. We don't go there anymore since we moved. But would still be going to them if we lived closer..

We see Dr. Scott Katz at Plano Pediatrics. We have been seeing Dr. Katz since my first son was born almost 4.5 years ago. I'm so glad my ob recommended him to me because he has been a fantastic pediatrican. His office is in a building that is connected to Medical Center of Plano. Here's his info...

We;ve used Aaron Kaplan at Plano Presbyterian (he might have privileges elsewhere, I don't know) since our 5 yr old was born. He's kind, conscientious, his nurses are very thorough and check back after a needed visit, the have an on-call practitioner who will call you any time day or night (we use that more often than taking her in for minor stuff) and when they give advice, they check the next day to see how she's doing. We've liked him a lot. They were quick to move on a breathing issue she had when she was 10 months, but not quick to say 'asthma' or anything chronic. Gave us nebulizer treatments. He has a sick area and a well area also.

We love Dr. Jason Mosier at North Dallas Pediatrics (they are 2 blocks from Plano General). He is always up to date on the newest studies & reports. Most of the new things he shares with us my friends' doctors have not told them. Important things, too! He explains everything in layman's terms and he has a fabulous, slow calming voice. Our daughter was sick ALL the time the first year & a half, so we spent a lot of time with him. He was wonderful for us as first time parents, and our second will be going to him as well!
