Pediatric Orthopedic for 17 Mo Old
My 17 month old daughter broke her arm last night. It shouldn't need surgery...its a clean break. Just need good hands to cast up such a little arm. Anyone you recommend? I live in The Colony...looking in this area as well as Plano, Frisco, Lewisville area. Thanks!!!

Metrocrest Orthopedics at Josey and FM 544. Right down the road from The Colony. They have a great bunch of Dr's there and on site casting facilities etc. Our Dr was Dr Neagle. A great man! Hope it helps

Both my boys broke their arm this past summer. We went to Childrens Medical Center at their Legacy location. It's at the intersection of Legacy and Preston. Nice facility, not very crowded and very kid friendly. They have a 24 hour pediatric orthopedist on call.
My younger son (4) broke his arm 4th of July weekend. I was able to call first thing Monday morning and get an appointment for the same afternoon.

Sorry, I don't know a good one. Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience with Dr. Humeniuk and found out later my son had a completely different problem than we thought and he missed it completely. Recently when I took my son to a scoliosis doctor and told him my story, he said one of the other doctors in his practice used to be in practice with Dr. Humeniuk and does not refer to him. That says a lot!

Hi. Sorry to hear about you daughter. Glad it wasn't more serious. We used Dr. Joseph McNutt in Frisco when our daughter broke her leg when she was 5 years. He's at 4401 Coit Rd Ste 407 Frisco ###-###-####. At Centennial Medical Center @ Coit & 121. He and his staff are great. I hope all goes well. They do have some really cool colors for casts these days. :c)

When my son was 18 months he broke his leg. We saw Dr. James Sackett ###-###-####. He is wonderful with kids. He has also seen my daughter and several friends children and everybody has been extremely happy. He is in Dallas just off 75, but well worth the drive.

I second the vote for pedibones!! They did a great job when my then 18 month old broke her foot. Casting is SO much easier than you might think too, so dont be too worried. It is not the plaster it on kind any more (if you did not know that like me) and they basically wrap with stuff that hardens almost immediately on its own. I was prepared for a tough day, and honestly, it was nothing. They handled her with gentle hands and caring hearts. Good luck..be prepared for lots of "Ohhh's" and "What happened"...nothing like a 17 month old in a cast..believe me:) ~A.~

I'll second Dr. Humeniuk in Plano. My baby has had an ongoing hip issue since birth and he's just been fantastic to work with. No doctor is going to have a 100% clean record and bad news will always travel faster than good news. Good luck!

I went to Dr. Capelo's office. He has an office in Grapevine and one in Plano (near Prestonwood church). I think he only sees patients in the Plano office 2 days a week - or at least that's how it was a year ago. My then 5 yr old son broke his arm and we went to him. He was great -- good experience. There's an xray machine in the office next door @Plano location.... at the grapevine location, they take xrays in office.
They were really good at putting on the cast. We did have to come back before it was time to b/c my son inserted a coin inside his cast!! ugh! So they had to take it off to get the coin out (or else it would have caused a serious skin injury - it was only one day and it was already turning his skin black! it's so impt that kids not put objects inside the cast!) -- and they had to put a new one back on. As you can imagine, getting it sawed off is a horrible sound and it's kinda scary to a kid. They were very nice in explaining it to him - calling it a "tickle machine" and that it wasn't going to hurt him at all. He still cried but it at least he wasn't screaming!
