Patches of Dry Skin

My daughter has a patch of skin on each cheek that is extremely dry. The pediatrician said to use Aveeno lotion everyday and they will go away. I have been using the lotion everyday but nothing is happening. Do you ladies know of any other lotion or treatment that might get rid of the patches?

What can I do next?

Hi!! I have a five month old son and he too gets dry patches on his cheeks and sometimes on his head. My doctor told me to use cortizone 10. You can buy this over the counter at any drugstore. It works great the patches clear up over night. I put the lotion on after his bath or right before he goes to bed. It is very common for infants to get dry skin I try to only use water on his face rather then soap since infant skin is so sensitive. The dry patches will come and go but the cortizone works great. Hope this helps.

Hi J.. I have a four year old and an 8 month old. They both have ecxema (<--spelling?). Have your doctor look at the spots. It probably is ecxema. I used prescription hydrocortisone, elidel, and gentle natural's baby ecxema cream. If not excema...try baby oil in bath tub and don't rub dry, pat but leave some wetness to her body. Hope it works.

Hi J..
My daughter was diagnosed with ecxema at a very young age. Since then i have tried everything -perscription and non perscription!! I started giving her omega three fish oil because it is supposedly great for young developing minds. But low and behold!! It cleared up her horrible skin condition.!! You can get it in any health food store (liquid or pill or chewable form) i have recommended this to other mothers. It also helped their children. (you need to heal it from the inside.) also plain old vaseline works great on the skin until the oil takes effect. Good luck. Let me know if it helps.

Hi J.! YEP, my dr. just told me to get .5% cortaid for some dry spots on my daughters back. The .5% is for sensative skin so I'd see no reason you couldn't use it on her face. If that doesn't work I'd call him again, you may need a prescription.

IF IT IS JUST DRY SKIN AND NOT EXCEMA OR OTHER SKIN CONDITION THEN THE BEST THING IN MY OPINION IS AQUAPHOR (SPELLING?) I THINK LOL BUT IT'S CLOSE. THAT WORKED WHEN MY BABES WERE LITTLE YOU CAN GET IT AT WALGREENS

I use OIL OF OLAY night cream on my daughter. I have since she was one month old and her skin started acting up. I tried different things, and then thought what the heck - it sure keeps my moms skin looking young, healthy, and beautiful. Julia's skin looks like plastic and I have never had a problem since.

Please proceed with caution. I gave this advice to a friend of mine for her son and he broke out worse. He had some type of rare skin disorder that has required very extensive medical attention and the OIL OF OLAY irritated him worse.

I hope that this works for your little angel like it did for mine!!

Try using Eucerin Calming Cream. My 2 year old son has eczema and I use it daily after his bath...it has helped tremendously.

I also use and Aquaphor ointment, which also works great on his face. I use the oitment when it is really bad, and kind of switch off.

Actually my son has exzema and there is a product by sensaria that I use on him. They have a website it is sensaria.com and it is called jojoba oil and I put a capful in his bath water and let him play in it. Then when he is finished I use thier body butter on his damp skin and it has completely gotten rid of his dry skin. I know a rep if you want to contact her. Just write me back and I can get you the info, or check out thier website. Thier products are all natural and work wonders. I use them on myself also.
