I currently work at a Dry Cleaners, and the way it's been going for the past month, its been killing my legs, feet, arms and mostly my back... I work full-time and spend 8 hours a day standing around, and I can never get anything done after work cause I'm so tired...
I was wondering when the best time was, to move from full-time to part-time???

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I actually just quit my job, along with my mom... Our boss was supposed to move us down to part-time a while ago, but never did... We were also two days behind cuz of the other store, but because we never got put down part-time and boss-lady wasn't doing anything, we decided to quit... Which was good for me, cuz my back would've gotten alot worse than it is now....
And currently, I'm starting to make and try to sell cat toys :)

What kind of shoes are you wearing? After working 12 hour shifts on my feet I found that a good pair of shoes could make all the difference. Nike Shox made a huge difference. As an answer to your question, I would say the best time to move from FT to PT is when you can afford it and still be able to save for the future.

Can you afford to switch to PT?
Will it mean loss of healthcare?

You're expecting right?

If you're working at the facility where they use the perc (perchloroethylene) --you need to get a new job -- yesterday! It can be very dangerous.

Times are tough so my only suggestion would be try to fiind something before you move on.

I don't know if there ever is a "good time" to move from full-time to part-time. It all depends on your budget. There is no way I could ever go to part-time until one of our kids moves out or my hubby gets a HUGE pay wage.

You need better shoes and probably a cushioned mat to stand on. The shoes are pricey, but worth it, and you can write them off on your taxes most of the time. My husband wears Dansko Professional Clogs to work and they have made all the difference in the world for him. Nurses wear these, too. They run about $120. The mats are inexpensive, check for "restaurant mats" online or places like Ollie's or Big Lots or Bed Bath and Beyond for those.

Unless you HAVE to, or it doesn't matter if you do or don't quit financially, if I were you, I would try those things before quitting. I can stand 12 hour days in the right shoes, too, and I have a bad knee that's healing right now ;)
