What is the oldest article of clothing you have? Mine must be my black mesh swimsuit cover shorts. At least 20 years old and they are still in perfect shape. Granted, I don't wear them a lot, but I love them and hope they'll last another 20! Hopefully I'll still be rockin' my bikini in my backyard pool then too...LOL. ;)
I also have a couple of t-shirts that are pushing that 20 year mark, but they are mostly rags and I hold on to them because they are either REALLY, REALLY soft and comfy, or they have some sort of sentimental value.
If you have any exceptionally old clothes, why do you hold on to them? Are they still in good shape, or is it sentimental value?
Just curious...and a little bit bored today as well. :)

What can I do next?

My oldest is my London Fog jacket that I bought at age 21....so that makes it 26 years old....

I still love that jacket...I bought it oversized wwwwaaay back then...now it still fits - but not oversized....I'm working on getting back to it being "oversized" again!!

I have a t-shirt that my mom used to wear when I was growing up. The screen printing looks vintage and retro now, but it's still in great shape. It's from my old home town, so I love the memories.

I have a skirt or two that are 15plus years old. They look like new.

Of course I have a concert shirt from 1985. You don't throw away Smith concert shirts. I threw out all the others long ago....

I think the oldest thing I have is 11 years when I got married. It's the outfit I wore after I changed out of my wedding dress. It doesn't fit M. now though. The oldest thing I can wear NOW is about 7 years old. It's a cotton knee length black drawstring skirt. Most of the clothes I wear are anywhere from a couple months old to 5 years old.

I have some of my own baby clothes that my mom saved. My daughter wore them and so did some of my granddaughters. It's sort of funny to see the different generations in the same outfit or dress and take a picture of them in similar poses.

Flannel PJ's, they are ugly and look like a moomoo (can't figure the spelling out lol). Horribly ugly and amazingly warm and comfy. They're pushing the 20 year mark also.

I have been the same size (excluding being pregnant, of course) since I was 14. I have had clothing for 15 years, that I still wear. They are in good shape. I don't like to shop, so I always bought high quality staple items, so they last. I have a pair of jeans, that I'm holding onto for dear life. I bought those when I was 13. They are starting to fall apart, and I am SO sad. Of course, I have some clothing that I only wear around the house. I have a swimsuit I've had since before I was pregnant, that I'm still using. I think I will have to retire that this year and I'm so mad. It fits perfectly and I don't want to get a new one!!

No sentimental value, I J. hate shopping!!

Oh...and I have my wedding dress, of course. That's going on 8 years. I put it on a few months ago, because I was bored. I'm relieved it still fits, not that I have anything to use it for!!

I think the oldest clothes I still own are my cast & crew sweatshirts from high school Drama. 1986 I think is the oldest. Of course I don't wear them anymore but I probably could.
Other than that I actually have no idea. I've been purging stuff from the back of the closet and I'm finding that some of the older stuff the elastic has lost it's stretch and stuff.

A sundesss my deceased mom bought M. when I was pregnant with my oldest 16 yrs ago. It is big on M., but it is the last thing have (clothing wise) so I'm kind of happy that my daughter is built like the women on my husband's side of the family & that it will be worn!

Remember I live where it is pretty warm in the winter.. So I still have a beautiful Anne Klein Cashmere coat, from 20 years ago. It has only been worn 2 times, but it is so gorgeous.. I cannot give it up..

I also have a wrap/coat that a friend designed and made for M. more than 20 years ago,, He is becoming more famous now that he was on TV.. so I may offer it to him, for his archive collection.. It is light weight so it is perfect for our "winter " weather.

Do shoes count? I have my wedding shoes (over 30 years) . and I have a pair of shoes from the early 1970's that a friend gave M..

My mom recently gave M. my favorite night shirt from when I was little (I think I got it in the 4th grade, I'll be 30 this summer). I had no clue she still had it, apparently she'd hidden it after I refused to give it up and it was quite ratty, but couldn't bring herself to throw it out. I totally started sleeping in it again, it's sooo comfy! Hubby can't say much, he's got t-shirts that are 10-15 years old that he still wears out in public, and at least I J. wear mine to sleep in!

I have a uniform I wore when I was in the military 35 years ago. I have a wedding dress that was my great great grandma's. Its about 130 years old. I have my grandfathers top hat. He died in 1923.

I have some t-shirts I bought on our 10th anniversary cruise hat I wear occasionally. We've been married 40 years the end of this month. My wife still has her wedding dress. She still looks great in it, but its a little too tight now.

Sentimental value. My uniforms still have a crisp starch. Good luck to you and yours.

I have a leather belt that I bought in high school (1980) that I still wear.

I have several concert tees from the 80's and early 90's that are full of holes that I still wear as pajamas or for yard work.
