Who purposed? you or partner? I purposed to my hubby. It was horrible and funny at the same time. I went and bought him a band. Had my room lit in candles, roses petals bought him a single red rose. I had told him he should stop by my moms house after he was off work. When he got to the house, he came down into my room and saw the candles and thought i was trying to seduce him( yeah right! my mom and sister were in the next room on the computer together) he looked at me and said babe not tonight. I am so burnt out.
I said you can go home as soon as i am done saying what i have to say. I was sitting on the bed with him so i got on to the floor and got down and both knees to be lady like even in pants. His jaw dropped to the floor. five months later we were married in my moms back yard that over looks the pudget sound...not the greatest scenery, location was free and the view of the water at least was amazing the day we got married.

We are renewing our vows once we can afford it. He wants the bigger wedding and me to get my white dress...or in my case I am having this hippie white and patch work dress with tool fabric underneath and fluff. We are still going to keep it hippie and very low cost. He wants to REpurpose to me too. It is something he wants to knock my socks off with.

can wait to see responses!!

So What Happened?

I had to read everyone of your responses to my hubby. Wow, how special all of those moments are!!! thanky ou for sharing them. I am an office Junkie...I told him, since he wanted to do it that way, I wanted to be totally blown outta the water and not expecting it...like when Jim and pam met at the rest stop and he got down on one knee. I love the army proposals...those were really sweet...every one of them was.

Kendal: My way may not have been everyones idea of the coolest proposal. It is ok you didnt think mine was anything to get excited over. It was for me. we have been married 7 years in july and have three amazing boys. I was young when we did it but there was something inside of me saying he is the one.

I still repeat those words ''he is the one''...we have gone through our ups and downs...I have left, I have kicked him out. everytime I stop and realize...This is not in my control...we were made for one another. There is not a person that knows us that would disagree..we are each others lobster. God meant it to be. that is why through think and thin i repeat this to myself. HE IS THE ONE.

We were living together and saving for a trip to Italy - and that's where I thought he would propose to me. Somewhere in Italy. Things got bogged down and we had to spend the money on an emergency. We were laying in bed and he was apologizing that we couldn't go. I've always wanted to go to Italy but being with him was so amazing, I couldn't be too upset. I hugged him close and whispered "Italy Schmitally". And he flew to the bedside table to get the ring. He now has my last words as a single girl etched on his wedding band. Italy Schmittaly.

WOW Kendall C. How RUDE of you, "I guess your way was okay...but nothing to get excited about" may not be exited for you but I am sure it was very special for them.
My husband traveled to Mexico and ask my parents for my hand, which I had to translate since they didn't speak the same language, lol.
Then he took me and my daughter and ask her to be her step dad.
My husband didn't have to spend tons of money, or going crazy, or add all the laces and stuff, to make it "unforgivable", it just was for us.

We were both in the Army stationed in Hawaii & out doing a field problem (mission). I worked in communications & he worked as a medic. One night we were talking on the military phones since we were at different locations & he just kinda threw it out there, "what do you think about getting married?" Me: "Ummm...ok, sure I guess."
We had met on March 5th and were married on May 26th of the same year - now almost 11 years later we have 3 kids, I'm out of the Army & he is still in, we live on the complete opposite side of the US & are loving our adventure.
Not everyones idea of perfect is the same - candlelight dinners and staring into each other's eyes (classical romantic) wierds me out :-)

Mine proposed a couple of days before my birthday.... He was all "How would you like to get married for your birthday present?"... hahahahahaha.
I guess he thinks he's a real prize.
He is, and of course I said Okie Dokie.
We try to make it to Yosemite for the marriage renewal service that falls on the first Sunday in May every year, its very invigorating and much cheaper than doing a huge bash for redoing the vows and such, it's the same thing but you do it with all the other couples that are there for the exact same reason. I would encourage any of you that live in California to go to that service. Yosemite is so breath taking in May with all of the water falls, it's just an awesome place to be with the one you love and are sharing the rest of your life with.

My husband and I met before he was going in the Army and he took me to the World Trade Center and proposed to me there. He told me that he had to take me ontop of the world because that was where he had been since the first time he met me.

My 13 year old jokes around about how she hopes our marriage doesn't have the same fate as the towers, which after my husbands diagnosis of cancer 3 yrs ago, him losing his job of VP at a co he worked at 23 yrs a short time thereafter and us soon losing our house to foreclosure hasn't - nothing is going to knock us down!!!!!!

This September we will be celebrating 18 years of marriage and we have two beautiful daughters. The hardest obstacle we have endured was the loss of my mother 3 weeks before the birth of my oldest daughter, but I know she is always here, holding up our foundation.

Holy smokes, Kendall - for real? Well, my proposal was even less "dramatic" but I loved it anyway.

I was a first year teacher, which meant that I was either working or sleeping. One afternoon I came home and flopped on the bed in my work clothes and passed out. My now-husband came home (we lived together) with a bunch of daffodils (my favorite) and a card that said "I will love you" and when I opened it it said "forever." He knelt by the side of the bed and asked me to marry him with a family heirloom ring. It was so lovely. Of course, he had just woken me up to do all of this, so my stunning response was, "um, sure." : ) We were married 8 months later in a huge beautiful wedding that I wouldn't change a single thing about, and we've been married for almost 9 years. There have been a _lot_ of ups and downs since then, but I'm still glad he proposed and I'm still glad I said yes.

My hubby proposed to me and it shocked me! I was NOT expecting it! I had always said if he EVER asked me not to do it on a holiday or Valentine's Day because I thought that was kind of cheesy, so of course he planned to ask on Valentine's Day ;-) We were buying our first house and our plans for a hike and picnic were messed up due to inspections, so we went to dinner the night before, and he got down and proposed at the restaurant! I was blown away! Ever since the 13th has been our "special" Valentine's Day. I was also really touched that 3 weeks before that, he had asked my dad about it. I'm a feminist and not into getting anyone's permission for such an important adult decision, and my dad had always told me if anyone asked for my hand, he was going to tell him that I made my own decisions, but it wound up really touching us both -I think even moreso because we had lived together for a year and we're just not that "type" of person, but it was really sweet. I had also mentioned in passing that if I ever got engaged, I wanted a garnet ring -not a diamond. He wanted to give me a diamond, but he had the ring designed so that two garnets were on either side. It was all just very sweet and thoughtful. That was 11 years ago, and I wouldn't change a thing!

LOL I was in bed watching TV and said "hey I have a three day weekend...we should go to Reno and get married," laughing while I said it.
My ex said..."ok." Me - "Yeah right, ha ha." His reply..."No i'm serious."
We never did go to reno that weekend, but we did get married.....and divorced. Thats how it happened.
My SO wants to knock my socks off when he asks me....we'll see what idea he comes up with.
