Hello mammas!
I do clean ups in mobile home and houses for our landlord when people move out. I have been in this one for almost 2 weeks, painting, new carpets, cleaning(they were oh so very nasty). In one of the bathrooms there is this horrible oder, we have painted, cleaned, sprayed, burned candles, we have tried in all and cannot find the source or get rid of the smell. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

Try pulling up the carpet or tile in and around the toilet. Friends own a plumbing company and 9 out of 10 times that is the problem. Boys miss even grown ones.

Flooring in mobile homes is usually "perimetered" which means they only fasten it down around the edges. So when urine and other fluids get on the flooring they seep into the cracks and soak into the floor boards. Pull the toilet and pull up the flooring around the base. If it is dark and soaked looking he may have to replace the floor. If it's not that them check the seal and other things mentioned here before. Adding other fragrances will not help if it is in the walls or floor boards.

A few things come to mind:

1. There is sometimes a "vent" from the sewer line that can get backed up, or roots can grow through the sewer line, etc.
2. Could something have crawled behind a wall and died...rodent, etc.?
3. Have you cleaned out hair and gunk from the drains?
4. Is there mold behind the sheetrock?

Any of these things could be the culprit. I hope you find it so it can be remedied.

We had a horrible odor in one of our bathrooms one time..It didn't matter how much I cleaned, what I sprayed nothing helped..We finally realized that the ring that seals the toilet to the floor was loose..Once we replaced that we no longer had the odor..

Hi, I don't know if anyone gave this answer already, but when we moved into our place we had that same problem. I'd tried everything and one day I looked down in the corner and found some mold! It wasn't a lot, but it made a huge smell. You might want to check around any areas that regularly come in contact with water. I wiped it down with a bleach and water solution and the smell went completely away. Hope it helps!

Is it possible that a cat(or other animal)died under the mobile home? Years ago that happened where I lived. I work at American Osment in Birmingham (a janitorial supply house) so I used the strongest industrial deodorant we carry and it didn't work. Once we found and removed the cat (which had wedged itself into the space between the air duct and the floor under an air vent) the smell almost immediately disappeared. If in fact it is an odor that has permeated the materials of the floor, an enzyme based deodorizer may help. We carry many enzyme products and you can even pour them in drains, which may be the source, especially if one is partially clogged. We have a website, americanosment.com, and a showroom in Southside Birmingham. Hope you check us out and find a product to help you!
