OB-GYN Referral for 14 Year Old

Hi Moms
I have a 14 year old daughter who has been having over the top painful periods. Besides being miserable, she is missing several days of school each month. This month the pain has moved around to her back. I think it's time for a visit to an OB-GYN. I don't want this experience to be traumatic for her so I am looking for a gentle, compassionate doctor who will take the time to explain the exam procedures to her. I live in SW Austin but I am willing to travel to outlying areas for a good doctor that will meet her needs.

So What Happened?™

Thanks so much to all the moms who responded. We are in the process of interviewing docs to find one my girl feel a connection to.
Luckily, one of the practices has a "meet the doctors night"
Thanks again

I doubt you would want to Travel clear to SM but I think the Nurse Practioner that I see at my GYN is the best in the world..... I originally started with the Dr. Jacobsen...but one time I had to see Carol Gardner because he was booked... and from then on she was the only one I would see... My daughter even planned until just this year her annual check up with Carol...traveling from California to see her.

Good luck.

Dr. Lisa Schneider at Hill Country OB/GYN is AWESOME!! They are just north of Slaughter on Brodie. Here is their web address: http://www.hillcountryobgyn.com/ She is very knowledgeable and gentle and will take good care of you!

Dr. Julie Grimes is an awesome ob-gyn! She is willing to spend as much time as necessary to answer all your questions in normal terms so that you can understand. If she knows it's your first visit she'll make sure to explain everything before and during the exam. She's located in South Austin across from St. David's South Austin Hospital off of James Casey St.

anyone at hill country obgyn. drs landwermyer or hart are particularly gentle. I have a condition that makes pap smears very painful & they were very gentle. they are south austin, on brodie near slaughter

Dr Oliver at Women Partners in Health is wonderful and would be great with a teenager! She is very thorough, and takes time with each patient. I have a number of friends who also use her and all feel like they are treated with the greatest of care.
