I have questions about Nursing Homes. My Father In Law in Ohio and wants to move here to Dallas and he cant walk so we are thinking of putting him in a nursing home till he can take care of himself. My question is he is in Ohio and would have to apply for medicaid, can he do that or does he have to be aresident of texas? is there a good nursing home in and around Richardson?
Yes there are several. Plaza of Richardson is a great one. There is also Winters Park in Garland. Both are good!
I recommend "Christian Care Center" in Mesquite, Texas. It has lots of different things available for people when they choose to move out of their homes into a nursing home. I have been there many times to visit my husbands Grandmother and it seems like a clean nice Nursing Home. I have heard people talk about it for many years and I have only heard good things.
It is probably a 30 minute drive from Richardson to Christian Care Center.

You want one that has a re-hab unit to help him either learn to walk again or take care of him self as he is.
I spent some time in the Village at Richardson ( I believe this is the correct name) It is on Rockingham.
They have a hall devoted to tempory patients and their physical therapy staff is excellant.
I probably wouldn't recommend it for long term care, but I really don't have anything to compare it with.
