We are having family over tomorrow for steaks. This week is very busy for me so it will be a simple meal. I have lots of groceries but ran out of potatoes. What do you like to eat with steak?

What can I do next?

Garlic noodles are nice and easy. I just sautee minced garlic in a generous amount of olive oil, add cooked thin spaghetti and toss with salt and pepper. Yum :)

A cool summer salad - corn, grilled veggies, romaines, throw in some color, some olive oil, and a lemony dressing!

It's the perfect time of year for sweet corn. Shuck it, pop it in boiling water for a few minutes and you're done. Couldn't be easier. Serve a platter of ripe, freshly sliced tomatoes (gussy them up with a little fresh basil and balsamic if you feel like being fancy). Add crusty bread, and you're done!

I'd just do steak and two veggies. We'll often do corn on the cob and a salad with steak.

Some kind of pasta dish, either hot or pasta salad, and either a green salad or fruit salad. With something cold for dessert - maybe sherbert?

We are a low carb household, so we tend to do lots of roasted or grilled veggies for our sides. When we do have a starch, it is brown rice, bulgur or quinoa. They can all be dressed up or down to go with steaks. There are some great recipes on Pinterest.

Think of a steakhouse menu:
side salad (garden) with a choice of potato, rice pilaf or a steamed/grilled vegetable.
Since the potatoes are out, go with either rice pilaf or a veggie side, along with a fresh garden salad. (greens, red onion, tomato, cucumber, shredded cheese).
