No Memory!

Ok, so when I was a pregnant, I was a victim of "pregnancy induced amnesia". I couldn't remember anything! My son turned two in August, and I have not fully recovered. I probably have 5 moments a day where I'm standing in a room thinking, "Now what was I going to grab?", and probably 10 moments a day where I'm thinking, "Damn, I meant to grab that!" Has anyone had similar problems with this? It's getting so ridiculous! My house has 3 levels and the amount of trips up and down stairs is unreal! Any suggestions? I'm open to anything: herbal remedies, meditation, electric shock....:)

What can I do next?

I think you would be hard-pressed to find someone with kids that doesn't have memory lapses. My daughter is 3 and my son is 8 mos. I never recovered from having my daughter, and now I've compounded that with two kids! For me it only gets worse, because neither child sleeps through the night. I not only have memory lapses, but I have a VERY hard time completing sentences that make sense, let alone not sputtered out. Speaking of which, did that last one make sense? It's worse if I actually talk. I have a better chance with the written word. Long story short, you're not alone. I'm looking forward to my kids being school-age. Maybe then I'll regain a sense of normalcy.

Don't stress! Write yourself little notes on those sticker pads. I have to do it all the time myself. They told me it's because you have so much going on. But, I've always had a good memory. Three levels huh? Wow! Yea, you need to write notes when you think about doing something.

I dont know if it will help, but it cant hurt... but I would begin taking fish oil... what you want is the DHA for brain function. Look for Carlson's at Whole Foods, it is about $24 bucks... it is in a brown bottle and I swear to you - it tastes like lemon oil. excellent on salads... even put it in a smoothie. it is also great for the kids too!

Good Luck!

Your are not alone1

My son is now 5 even notices when I forget and makes comments about it. =)

I started taking a Omega 3 Fish Oil pill and a good daily vitamin and I do notice a huge difference. Not to mention the health benefits of adding Omega 3 Fish Oil to your diet.
Remember your water throughout your day, even slight dehydration can add to our forgetfulness

You are not alone! My son will be 4 in March and my memory still sucks. We called it fetal brain drain when I was pregnant, but, as you said, it never went away. I don't have any solutions for you. All I can tell you is that I leave myself A LOT of notes. There are post-it's everywhere! Good luck, I look forward to seeing what other mom's have to say.

Wow, I remember not remembering...lol. I had a sever iron deficiancy during my last pregnancy and it caused severe memory loss, I dont remember most of my last trimester or most of the three months after her birth. I remember generalities, but not the details, or things that happened. If ;your brain is not getting enough oxygen you wont think right, and iron carries the oxygen to your brain!

So, I suggest an iron supplement, theres one called slowFE that is easier on your tummy. Also add some B vitamins, they are brain food! and increase your energy. I take the liquid vitamins called "Source of Life" you can get them at any health food or GNC store. They are chock full of energy! I almost have my photographic memory back, but with 4 kids, I dont see that ever really happening!

Good Luck and Hope you are going to feel better soon!

Um...I believe this says it all..."33 year old single mother of an awesome 2 year old little man. I'm a licensed daycare provider and have 3 great little girls I care for part time."

Seriously though, I had the same problem when I was pregnant (and still do and my daughter is 9.) I believe its a well known syndrome called "Motherhood." Just be thankful that some day your son will actually help you remember things. My daughter frequently laughs at me but helps me as well. I actually have found that taking a Vitamin B complex helps too.
