Next Lice Question. About the Dryer.

Okay, so I'm a ding dong. I admit it. But I'll ask anyway.

This is more of a laundry question. Since I'm going to be bundling things up and washing and drying everything ... how long can you leave pillows in a dryer? How about beloved stuffed animals? I think her favorite lovies can have a hot water washing, but I doubt they can handle the dryer. Would that be enough? Should I just have her bite the bullet and store them away in plastic bags? Man, she's going to flip. I really would rather wash and or dry them and be done with it. Just to keep her lovies near.

And also the reason I'm asking is that the only fire I ever had was when I was a child and it started from the dryer. I am extremely fire-phobic.

Thanks very much, ladies!

What can I do next?

I think the heat of the dryer is what really kills them.....here is an idea (and might be a time saver too)...take everything to the laundrymat....that way you can do all of your wash at once and use several dryers at once...the dryers there are commercial so I think they will get hotter then the home dryer. It'll cost you a few bucks but you won't worry about fire at home and you can get all your laundry done quicker.
If you do it at home just make sure the dryer lint trap is cleaned out each time.
I have washed stuffed animals (a full washer and dryer load) with no problems.
Good luck.....I know it sucks but you will be relieved when you have it all done :-)

I put my daughter’s stuffed animals in the wash and dryer (the dryer for no more than 40 minutes on medium heat). We have not had lice so I would assume that once these items are washed or away from a human or animal for a few days the lice would die off.
Dryer fires are usually started because of lint build up in the exhaust pipe, the entire pipe should be cleaned out at least twice a year from the dryer to the opening outside of your house.

With all my kids, I dry everything, just no time to worry or be picky, lol. Unless a toy has batteries it can go in my washer and dryer, and I use the same standard setting as I do for clothes.

The bugs need blood to live. If they are off the body they die quickly if they don't have a hair with a bulb on the end that has blood on it.

Vacuuming the animal well should be enough.

For her lovies just do the dryer. It's one to one and a half hours in a dryer on high heat. Because they aren't wet, everything in them should stay in tact. It should not in any way cause a fire, unless there is too much lint, or way to full and on way to long. Then I could see the fire doing something. So I would just dry her pillow and a few lovies together, and then do the washables in a separate load.

Isn't just so much fun J. C? Isn't it??!! Oh, the joys of parenting!
