New to the Area and Need Help Finding Parks and Recreation

Hi-

I have a 13 month old who also likes to go outside! We live in Wauwatosa- a nearby suburb. One great option is to get a zoopass. The Milwaukee Zoo should be around a 15 min drive and a great place to run around (they do have a playground in there too). It is about $55 without parking for a year pass or $87 with parking.

Otherwise, all parks are about the same here. We've gone to one on North Ave but typically go to the ones in Tosa. The one outside of the Waukesha library is pretty nice but probably too far for you. There are tons of hiking and biking trails in WI but probably not as appropriate for a two year old (look up ice age trail)

Good luck finding places in Brookfield! We also go to Gymboree (Ruby Isle plaza). They have open gym three times a week- free for people taking a class and $5 for those who aren't.

We have some wonderful parks. Depending where you live in Brookfield, there are some large ones within driving distance. Greenfield Park on 124th & Greenfield Ave has a swimming pool and playgrounds. I personally have not been there since I was a kid so I do not know the quality but many people have commented that they go there. I live in Waukesha and would highly recommend our park system. Frame Park is located at Moreland Blvd (same as Bluemound Rd) and Hwy 164. It has a 2 mile walking/biking path around the river as well as a playground. Waukesha has 2 great pools with playgrounds (Horeb Springs). We also have many great smaller parks. We also have the Drumlin Trail which is a bike path that leads all the way to Madison. It is beautiful and relatively flat for pulling a bike trail. They may be a little bit of a drive, but is well worth it. If you have any questions, please drop me a line.

It lists parks by county and gives safety reports, etc. Otherwise I'd do a "Brookfield, WI" search on the web and go to the Chamber of Commerce website - it should list all the parks in your area.

Have you been to Wirth park on Pilgrim and North ave? That is a nice park with an outdoor pool that opens in June as well.

Hi M., I live in Muskego and I've done something fun with my son. I looked up the local library on the internet and found out that they have a story time for little ones and their parents. Ours was free. Although I don't know if Brookfield libraries have anything like that it might be a start.
